What to expect
Langkawi, the jewel of Kedah, derives its name from the red backed Eagle which rules the skies above the island. Legend has it that the ‘Lang’ comes from the Malay word ‘helang’, which means Eagle, and the ‘Kawi’ comes from the word meaning marble. The convocation of Eagles flying high in the sky and a land full of marble do lend some credibility to this legend. Dataran Lang conveniently called as the Eagle Square, celebrates these majestic birds of Langkawi. It is an iconic statue located on the southern part of Pulau Langkawi, on the Kuah Jetty. The Eagle Square has an impressive 12 metre tall statue of a red backed Eagle standing on a blue star shaped platform. It is surrounded by forest covered mountains on one side and the open Andaman Sea on the other. With its wings spread, the Eagle of Dataran Lang looks ready to soar into the sky.
Durian Perangin Waterfall is a hidden gem in Langkawi, Malaysia, tucked away in the island’s northeastern region near Tanjung Rhu. This enchanting 14-tiered waterfall cascades through lush rainforest, offering visitors a serene escape with its crystal-clear pools and refreshing natural showers. The lower tiers are easily accessible, making them ideal for swimming and picnics, while the more adventurous can hike up to discover the secluded upper falls. For those seeking extra excitement, ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) tours are available at an additional cost, letting travelers zoom through rugged jungle trails and scenic paths around the waterfall area. This thrilling add-on combines the tranquility of nature with an adrenaline-fueled adventure, perfect for explorers who want the best of both worlds. Whether you're unwinding by the falls or racing through the wilderness on an ATV, Durian Perangin promises an unforgettable Langkawi experience.
Tanjung Rhu Beach, one of Langkawi’s most pristine shores, is famed for its powdery white sands, swaying casuarina trees, and breathtaking views of limestone islands dotting the Andaman Sea. This tranquil beach, part of Langkawi’s UNESCO Global Geopark, offers a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. For travelers looking to explore the island’s rich natural heritage, a mangrove boat ride (at your own cost) is a must-do experience. Glide through the ancient mangrove forests of Kilim Geoforest Park, a UNESCO-listed site, where you’ll encounter exotic wildlife like eagles, macaques, and otters, while marveling at dramatic karst formations and hidden lagoons. Whether you’re sunbathing on the serene shores or discovering the wonders of Langkawi’s Geopark by boat, Tanjung Rhu promises an unforgettable escape into nature’s wonders.

Oriental Village is a charming cultural and recreational hub in Langkawi, designed to resemble a traditional Asian township with picturesque bridges, lush gardens, and quaint souvenir shops. The main attraction here is the Langkawi Cable Car (available at your own cost), which offers a breathtaking journey up to Mount Mat Cincang, Langkawi’s second-highest peak. As you ascend in the glass-bottomed gondola, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the island’s rainforests, waterfalls, and the Andaman Sea. At the top, the SkyBridge—a stunning curved suspension bridge—awaits, providing even more spectacular vistas. Whether you’re exploring the village’s cultural charm or soaring above the treetops on the cable car, Oriental Village promises a memorable blend of adventure and scenic beauty.
Langkawi Sky Bridge is a 125-metre (410 ft) curved pedestrian cable-stayed bridge in Malaysia, completed in 2005.[3] The bridge deck is 660 metres (2,170 ft) above sea level at the peak of Gunung Mat Cincang on Pulau Langkawi, the main island of the Langkawi archipelago in Kedah.[4] The Langkawi Sky Bridge can be reached by first taking the Langkawi Cable Car to the Top Station, where an inclined lift called SkyGlide takes visitors from the Top Station down to the bridge.[5] The bridge was closed in July 2012 for maintenance and upgrading. The reopening was put off several times, but it partially reopened in February 2015.[6] The bridge is now fully accessible.
