What to expect
We will meet at the front door of Riga's tallest church - St. Peter's.
We will walk through the 5 market halls of Europe's former largest indoor market. The halls - largely created from materials originally used for Zepellin hangars - are iconic in Riga's landscape. Latvian cuisine will be discussed.
Building of Latvian Academy of Sciences
We will visit the academy of sciences - one of the most famous examples of Soviet era architecture. We can take an elevator up to the viewing platform to get a fantastic view of Riga ( subject to working hours. Admission not included)
Great Choral Synagogue Memorial
We will see the remains of Riga's choral synagogue. Jewish history in Riga will be discussed.
We will end the tour at Latvia's most famous monument - a tribute to our independence built using donations from the citizens in the 1930s.
