What to expect
The tour starts at the park entrance "Largo Pietro Tacchi Venturi", where we immediately immerse ourselves in the Caffarella Park, which is part of the larger Regional Park called "Appia Antica", named after the famous Roman road.
Parco Acquatico Point
After crossing the Caffarella Valley, we get the chance to observe some birds and wildlife in the Caffarella Pond – from a proper birdwatching station.
La Fattoria degli Animali
This small, independent animal farm is always a big surprise for our urban explorers.
Sepolcro Di Annia Regilla
Tomb believed to be the final resting place of Annia Regilla, a prominent aristocrat entangled in a notorious murder mystery.
This enchanting Nymphaeum was once believed to be the sacred dwelling of Egeria, the nymph and confidante of King Numa Pompilius, adorned with marble walls, mosaic floors, and a statue of the legendary figure.
Bosco Sacro
We'll take a break in what is left of an oak forest, once considered to be "sacred".
Laghetto verde
We'll visit the important wetlands, next to the once sacred river "Almone", and learn more about its important function for the biodiversity of this park.
Casale Della Vaccareccia
The Casale della Vaccareccia, boasting a historic watchtower from the Middle Ages, continues its agricultural legacy, offering visitors the opportunity to purchase fresh cheese products made from the free-roaming sheep grazing in the park (not every day), creating a delightful experience where history and tradition intersect with modern agricultural practices.
The experience can be subject to change due to bad weather or unforseen circumstances. We always endeavour to give you the best possible experience.
