Independence Monument

The Independence monument was uncovered on 1962 October 8 just a day before Uganda got her independence from the British colonial government on 09/10/1962. The monument is designed on a metal framework with a mother carrying a child raising her hand upwards in the sky signifying excitement and freedom in Uganda. On the monument, the mother stands firm on the ground having both legs positioned apart and straps around the legs and waist symbolizing firmness while the "ropes" around the legs show the freedom from the bondage of colonialism in Uganda.

Sir Edward Muteesa 1 Monument: It is an important monument to Uganda and Buganda kingdom, this monument erected by the Mutesa 1 Foundation is among the expensive monument in Uganda. Sir Edward Mutesa was the 35th king of Buganda and the first president of Uganda, Mutesa died in United Kingdom after being forced into exile by his prime minister Milton Obote who took over his presidential seat after attacking the kabaka’s palace in 1966. World War Monument: This is one the oldest monuments in Kampala, this statue was built under the funding of the British colonial government in 1945. World War Memorial Monument is situated on Kampala road next to Kampala central police station, it was built purposely to commemorate Ugandan fighters who lost their lives in the Second World War while fighting on behalf of the British government. Gorilla monument: This represents the Silverback gorilla called Ruhondeeza. You will end your Boda Boda tour with a drop-off at your hotel/place of residence.
