FNB Stadium
This iconic 87 436-seater is the largest venue in South Africa and the country’s proud global colossal located in Nasrec, south of Johannesburg. The unique design of FNB Stadium is highly regarded internationally, and is often fondly referred to as the “Calabash” or “African Pot”. Note that we do not enter the stadium but we do stop and brief you with information and give you a chance to take pictures.
The Hector Pieterson Memorial and Museum in Soweto was erected in the early 1990's as a memorial to Hector Pieterson, a 12 year old child, who is believed to have been the second school pupil shot by police during the Soweto Student Uprising on 16th June, 1976 - but the first fatality. Note that we do not enter the museum but we do stop and brief you with the history of the memorial and give you a chance to take pictures.
The homes of two Nobel Peace Prize laureates – South Africa's first democratically elected president, the late Nelson Mandela, and Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu – are found on Vilakazi Street. Note that we do not enter the homes of Nelson Mandela & Desmond Tutu but we do stop and brief you with information and give you a chance to take pictures.
The Apartheid Museum opened in 2001 and is acknowledged as the pre-eminent museum in the world dealing with 20th century South Africa, at the heart of which is the apartheid story.
