What to expect
Boulevard De La Croisette
Croisette We are embarking on an exciting journey to enjoy the beauty of the French Riviera. Our route will take us along the coast towards the city of Antibes, and if time allows, we will drive along the famous Promenade de la Croisette, savoring the picturesque views of the sea and the ambiance of this exquisite resort.
Antibes
Our first stop after Cannes is the charming town of Antibes. Once known as Antipolis, it still impresses with its Fort Carré—a massive fortress overlooking the harbor and beautiful marina. The castle in the old town is now home to the Picasso Museum, and the spacious courtyard in front transforms into a Provençal market every morning, filled with thousands of scents and colors. No wonder so many people seek solitude in this town, which is now the third largest on the French Riviera.
St-Paul-de-Vence
Our journey continues as we explore Saint Paul de Vence, a medieval town encircled by 14th-century ramparts that was once dubbed the Royal City. Over a century ago, it blossomed into a true haven for artists, attracting young painters, sculptors, and contemporary designers alike. This artistic migration was sparked by the likes of Picasso, Chagall, and Matisse, who sought inspiration within its enchanting streets—and it’s easy to see why. Today, the town remains a vibrant hub for emerging artists, where the medieval narrow streets intertwine with galleries, workshops, and storefronts showcasing modern art. For those with a penchant for contemporary creativity, Saint Paul is also home to the prestigious Maeght Foundation, which houses the world’s largest collection of contemporary art. Prepare to be captivated by the unique fusion of history and artistry that this charming town has to offer.
Promenade des Anglais
From the artistic haven of Saint Paul de Vence, we will continue our journey to Nice. Our excursion begins with a scenic drive along the Promenade des Anglais, a legendary boulevard that gracefully lines the Bay of Angels, stretching from Nice Côte d’Azur Airport to Port Lympia. This iconic promenade is home to some of the city’s most exquisite hotels, including the opulent Negresco Hotel, a stunning example of Belle Époque architecture. Whether you prefer a relaxed walk while savoring the sea breeze or engaging in active recreation, the Promenade des Anglais perfectly captures the laid-back yet sophisticated atmosphere of the French Riviera.
Our first stop in Nice will be in front of the Saint Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral—Eglise Orthodoxe Saint Nicolas et Sainte Alexandra. This magnificent cathedral is the largest Eastern Orthodox church in Western Europe and was inaugurated in 1912 to serve the large Russian community that had settled in Nice by the end of the 19th century. With its stunning Byzantine architecture and beautiful surrounding gardens, the cathedral offers a glimpse into the city’s rich history and its ties to the era of the Tsars.
After visiting the Saint Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral, we will make our way to the historical district of Cimiez. This area is renowned not only for the monumental Winter Palace of Queen Victoria but also for the nearby ruins of the ancient Roman city of Cemenelum, dating back to the 1st century C.E. The remarkable blend of history and art in this one location is sure to leave a lasting impression.
Mt Boron
After exploring the ancient Roman ruins, we will head to the majestic hill of Mont Boron for an unforgettable photo opportunity. As we ascend, you'll discover a 15th-century stronghold that once protected the Bay of Villefranche. The breathtaking views over the bay, the charming village, and the surrounding hills will leave you momentarily speechless. On the opposite side of Mont Boron, you'll be treated to a panoramic vista of Nice itself, offering a bird's-eye view of this stunning city—an encounter you won’t want to miss. Don’t forget to capture the beauty of this unforgettable location with your camera!
Place Massena
Before our colorful tour begins, we’ll immerse ourselves in the atmosphere of the Old Town with a brief stop at the statue of Apollo, a symbol of the city, located at the entrance to the Old Town. From there, you can enjoy a leisurely stroll through the heart of Old Nice.
Next, we will immerse ourselves in the vibrant atmosphere of the Cours Saleya Market. Located in the very heart of Nice’s Old Town, this market is always bustling with life. The scents of fresh produce and flowers seem to lift everyone’s spirits, creating a friendly and lively atmosphere. You will have free time to explore the market, and your guide will point out where to visit the famous boutique of the Fragonard perfumery and much more.
As we head towards the highest point of the Old Town, our first stop is the historic Tour Bellanda. Originally built for the city's protection, this tower has now become a favored viewpoint for visitors. Here, you can relax and take in the breathtaking view of the Bay of Angels. While the ascent is impressive, it is not too difficult and definitely worth the effort.
Our next route from the Bellanda Tower will take us to the highest viewpoint, where you can enjoy an unforgettable panoramic view of all of Nice and a significant portion of the French Riviera. Along the way, we will make a brief stop at a stunning waterfall. Prepare for magical moments as you immerse yourself in the beauty of nature and the spectacular landscapes.
