    NO 1 TIP: GET YOUR OWN RIDE TOAND FROM THERE!! We were coming from a cruise ship so we got picked up. Our ride was late, so we got rushed into gears and onto our horses the minute we got there and rushed out of gears and into the van the minute we got off the horses. We got ZERO time to visit the stables and spend time with the horses there! The tour itself was MAGICAL! The scenery is fantastic, riding through a herd of other horses at some point. We got to experience the tolt, even as inexperienced riders. We would definitely do it again.

    I’m really disappointed. I had expected a fast paced ride with plenty of tölt and a bit of cantering. Instead we plodded along at a walk with only three short tölt sessions. I give two stars and not one because the horse was nice as was the tour guide, although it beats me why she rode on a horse which didn’t want to be in the front and therefore frequently refused to move at all. The length of the ride was advertised as 2.5-3 hours, but was less than 2.5 h despite the slow pace.

    We recently did a horse riding tour and it was so much fun, despite light rain for the first half. They supplied rain gear, which was great! They paired us with horses to match our skills and off we went. We got to cross a small creek/river which was fun! Then the horses treated us to tolting, the special trot of the Icelandic horse. So much fun! They guides gave us stories throughout the tour and towards the end got pictures for us. I would recommend this stable and would ride again with them!

    Ride was nice. Staff was knowledgeable & helpful. Lunch was good, with soup hot & delicious. Could have used a little more time to eat, before heading to whale watching. Thanks to all. Great to have warmer pants & gloves provided.

    Riding with Eldhest at was the first activity I did in Iceland, and it was a great start to my trip! The stables and staff are very well prepared and the horses know the drill and are very easy to ride - especially the tölt which was fun to experience! We got on the horses right away and spent almost the whole duration riding which was great!

    We are not allowed to pick up directly from some hotels in the Reykjavík capital area, please visit busstop.is & enter the address of your hotel or guesthouse to see if you should walk to a bus stop for pick up. Please contact us if you need assistance with a pick-up location. For morning departures: Please be ready at 08:00 at your chosen pick up location (our driver may be there as late as 8:30). Please note that pick up from Hótels in Seltjarnarnes, Hafnarfjörður, Kópavogur and Mosfellsbær is at 7:45 and pick up from Hveragerði and Selfoss is at 8:45. For afternoon departures: Please be ready at 13:00 at your chosen pick up location (our driver may be there as late as 13:20). Note that pick up from Hveragerði and Selfoss is at 13:45. Please note: You will need to add an additional 1.5 hours to the duration time of this tour if you choose pick up and/or drop off

    Experience a variety of scenery and impressions! We first ride up a hill on excellent riding trails, along the slopes of the mountain Reykjafjall and through a green forest, a rare sight in Iceland. We then pass many hot springs in the impressive, colorful geothermal area situated just above the village of Hveragerði, a small town also known as the “hot spring capital of the world”. This area expanded dramatically during an earthquake in 2008 and is constantly changing. The path continues along the volcanic hills above the village, which is also known for its beautiful location between the volcano Hengill and the wide plains of the southern lowlands. We have a nice view of Varmá river, called the “warm river” as geothermal water flows through it, and green valleys with rising steam in the distance. During the winter season, we stop to warm up with a cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate and learn more about the Icelandic horse before riding back to our farm.
