Sheki
Road to Sheki City. Founded in the 8th century BC by Saka tribes Sheki city is located in the southern foothills of the Greater Caucasus. At present, Sheki is famous for production of silk and for its agricultural sector where tobacco, grapes, nuts, grain and milk are produced. It takes 5 hours to get there from Baku city.
Palace of Sheki Khans. This palace is one of the most valuable architectural monuments of the 18th century. It was built in 1797 by architect Haji Zeynalabdin. Incredible wall paintings and stained-glass mosaic windows impress visitors with their beauty.
Caravanserais. Shaki has long been famous as a city of craftsmen, artisans and, of course, merchants. Merchants and traders from the countries of the great Silk Road came here from all sides. That is why special attention was paid to the construction of caravanserais. For example, in the 18th – 19th centuries, 5 large caravanserais operated in Shaki. Only two of them have survived to our time - the Upper and Lower ones, built in the 18th century. Lunch Break. You can have your lunch at any restaurant you like
Church of Kish
Albanian Temple in Kish. An ancient Albanian temple, a unique monument of antiquity, is located in one of the oldest places in Azerbaijan - the village of Kish, located near Sheki. The emergence of the temple dates back to the 1st century, a time when the territory of Azerbaijan was included into Caucasian part of Albania. Historians suggest that the temple was founded by the Apostle Elisha, who brought Christianity to Albania. The End of the Tour.
