I unfortunately cannot recommend this company based on my experience with the Tumpak Sawu daytrip. Communication was poor from the start: the information provided beforehand was both late and incomplete. For example, the departure time was suddenly changed from 7:00 to 5:30 due to the weekend, something they had clearly known in advance but only informed me about last minute. I was also not given any contact details for the driver who would come to pick me up. On the day itself, the driver arrived an hour late to pick me up, and I only received a message from him after I had already waited for 30 minutes. He did not speak any English, which made communication extremely difficult. Because of this, the program for the day remained unclear throughout the trip; the driver couldn’t properly explain the schedule or what was included. The company’s own instructions I received the day before hinted that the driving might be unsafe (“feel free to remind him to slow down”), which is not a reassuring thing to read beforehand. Unfortunately, this turned out to be true—the driver’s driving was indeed very fast and dangerous. Only after asking him twice he slowed down a bit, although he remarked that we would now arrive late. Considering he was the one who picked me up an hour behind schedule, this comment felt inappropriate. Finally, the driver asked whether we also wanted to visit the viewpoint terrace. I assumed the itinerary would be fixed, so it was confusing to be asked this. Since I had received so little information in advance, I had no idea whether this was normally included or not. We arrived at the waterfalls at 11:00am, after a lot of waiting. After the tour, I contacted the company to explain what had happened. However, they did not offer any kind of compensation, nor was it possible to receive a refund for the Bromo tour scheduled for the next day. I naturally no longer wanted to participate, as I did not feel safe with this organisation anymore. Overall, the lack of organization, unclear program, poor communication, unsafe driving, and lacking compensation made this a disappointing and frustrating experience. I would strongly recommend booking with a different company.

I joined this tour from Malang. I stayed at one of their hostels. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The tour was also well organized. I met several other solo travelers, and the guide was informative. Tumpak Sewu was absolutely amazing. Even though it’s far and requires a 2 hour drive, it’s totally worth it. I highly recommend this tour if you’re visiting Malang.
