I designed this hike especially for the wintertime, giving visitors a chance to explore the Wachau Valley in the low season alike. We make a big loop and wander from Krems to the neighboring town of Stein and back. We hike through the vineyards overlooking Krems and Stein and enjoy fantastic views of the city, the river, and the surrounding hill chains. On our way back, we walk through the medieval town of Stein and Krems and admire the beautiful architecture. We end our Wachau Winter Walk in one of the local inns (optional) before heading back to Vienna. Highlights: -UNESCO World Heritage -The medieval towns of Stein and Krems -Architecture, culture, and nature -Fantastic views into the Wachau Valley -Terraced vineyards -Local wine and food This hike offers a perfect mix of architecture, culture and nature. Walking time is approx. 2,5-3 hours, depending on individual speed. This walk requires an average fitness level. Commuting time from/to Vienna is approx. 1 hour one-way.
