We had taken private tours around Portugal in the past, and No Map Tours by far is the best private tour operator you can find. We went on two tours with them, and we are so glad we picked this particular company. The tours are well planned and the vehicles are super clean and comfortable. We cannot say enough great things about our tour guide Sandra. We were really impressed by her knowledge of history, attention to detail, level of customer care and driving skills! If you are a history fan or simply want to have great time exploring Portugal, No Map Tours tours are the must. Next time we are in Portugal, we will definetely be touring with Sandra again. Highly recommend! Many thanks to No Map Tours for the great experience!

Our private guide, Sandra, was spectacular! Arrived early and was very professional. She took the time to outline the day, emphasizing that this was our private tour and can make decisions on the flow of the day however we desire (more time/less time) at our destinations. She immediately wished us away, and expertly guided us to Sintra the back way as to avoid all the traffic. The result was getting there early and nearly at the front of the line prior to opening. Bravo! As you can imagine later the lines became incredibly long with a sea of people. Sandra is incredibly well versed in the history. What we enjoyed the most is the level explanation and emersion and not too much to where our eyes glazed over. Spot on. After escaping the crowds of Sentra we made stops along the way. Again Sandra emphasized that we could take as much or as little time at the destinations. She pointed out meeting places and was always there and easy to find. Sandra was such a delightful conversationalist and, witty at that. We talked and laughed and had so much fun the entire trip. Truly a wonderful experience. We had another excursion to Alentejo region the following day. We were so thrilled to learn Sandra would be our private guide yet again! You guessed it. Another day and whole lot more of the same fun with Sandra as the day before. Thank you Sandra for making our trip to Portugal memorable and fun. We absolutely and genuinely enjoyed your company!

My husband and I had a wonderful day tour with Luis Oliveira, a very professional, personable and knowledgeable guide. He picked us up at our hotel precisely as arranged and drove smoothly through Lisbon to the Pena Palace in Sintra. His command of Portuguese history is amazing, and he maneuvered through the long line of tourists to make for a stress-free experience. We highly recommend him and will contact No Map Tours for future travels.

On almost all tours, I find something to complain about. I couldn't find a single thing that could have been better. From the timing of the activities to the information provided about the different stops, everything was better than expected. Sandra was accommodating, informative, and great at reading her tour participants. I highly recommend this tour.

I can’t recommend this tour enough. The experience was wonderful. Sandra is one of the best tour guides I’ve ever had. She is passionate about the site and has lots of information to provide. My family had a wonderful time from picking up at the hotel until we were dropped off in the evening.

Our family had a tour of Sintra along with Lisbon. Our tour guide, Luis, was outstanding. Very personable as well as super knowledgeable. Wow would highly recommend Luis and this tour to anyone.

We did two tours, one of Lisbon and one of Cintra, and both were incredible! Very informative. Beautiful sites on both tours, including a drive along the coastline from Cintra back to Lisbon where we saw forts from the 1500s and beautiful scenic ocean views.

I explained our hopes and priorities in emails with Sandra and left the rest to her. She managed to get a lot into our 7+ hours of time in port. She warned us that, since we could not get started before 0900, getting an inside tour of the Pena Palace would be impossible without standing in line. So, she purchased tickets for an outside tour of the palace. By the time we could get to the palace the lines to get inside were enormous. We would have spent well over an hour of our limited time in port standing there. Instead, Sandra gave us a throughly excellent and informative tour of the exterior of the castle. The place is spectacular. Then we went back down to the town of Sintra and had the chance to walk around and shop with thousands of other tourists. We’d expressed an interest in learning about Port, so Sandra took us to a small wine shop where we proceeded to taste at least 8 different ports — one was an 1815 vintage which retailed for $3000 a bottle. We learned a lot. We drank a lot. And we spent a lot (no-not on the $3000 bottle.). Next, we were off to Cascais for a nice lunch and quick look at the town. Then a return to Lisbon on the coast road. Upon arriving in Lisbon, we got quick looks at several of the iconic sites before Luis masterfully negotiated the traffic and returned us to our ship. Sandra and Louis are smart, knowledgeable and great companions. I recommend their services in the strongest possible terms.

We spent a day with Sandra as she guided us through the royal castles of Sintra, the seaside town of Cascais, and Cabo da Roca. Throughout the trip, she filled us in on the history, culture, and current events in and around the different sites we visited. She is deeply knowledged, engaging, and caring (we traveled with a 83-year old family member). Since we were also big foodies, we gave us great suggestions for both dessert and lunch whenever we stopped. And no, her restaurant choices were not some commission-based tourist traps. They were solid local favs. She was also a great planner, making sure we arrive in time at certain locations to avoid crowds and that we get the most of our time at each location. All in all, Sandra was amazing and we were really glad she was our guide in Lisbon.

Luis picked us up as agreed and off we headed on a lovely trip to the Pena Palace in Sintra, which that day was unusually shrouded in fog. This did not dampen our spirits in the least. Luis is a fabulous guide, very knowledgeable, with a delightful dry sense of humour and an excellent mastery of English! He can manouevre the narrowest roads and tightest parking spaces and never get ruffled ! Luis is very accommodating and adapts to the customer”s wishes whenever feasible. Following the visit of the beautifully eclectic Palace, we arrived at the old walled town of Sintra with its quaint little stores and the best pastry shop this side of heaven - Casa Piriquita with its mouth-watering “Travesseiros”. Next was the rugged and sandy coastline past Guincho Beach down to Cascais with Luis pointing out all the highlights along the way. At Cascais we had a delicious seafood lunch and strolled through the old town, picking up some Portuguese tiles and other items. Estoril was next along the route of the Portuguese Riviera. Luis indicated the grand old homes with their storied past and the casino which inspired Ian Fleming’s Casino Royale. Returning to Lisbon along the banks of the Tejo, he gave us other sightseeing tips and ideas. We definitely had a lovely, informative and fun tour with Luis. Muito Obrigadas!!
