516 Arouca - Ponte Suspensa

After departing from Porto towards Arouca, we will do a short stop for breakfast and toilets. Afterwards, the adventure starts! Go across one of the longest Suspension bridges of the World!

Paiva walkway

The Paiva Walkways is a stunning 7 km boardwalk zig-zagging downhill along the left bank of Paiva river at Arouca Geopark, a UNESCO Geological site. Notice: we only walk downhill and you can also walk only half of the trail - 3,5Km. (you will be able to decide that on on the day trip)

After the walk, a great meal is needed and lunch is another highlight of our day! You will be amazed with our traditional lunch option at local and typical restaurant!

Aveiro

After a recovering nap while driving to Aveiro, we will discover the Venice of Portugal. You will have some free time and stroll around the canals on a beautiful boat trip.

Notice: Right before our walk starts, we need to go through a winding road over the Paiva mountain. If you have car motion sickness problems, we advise you to have a tablet or a pill to help with that issue.

This tour was a great opportunity to get out of Porto and experience some lesser known parts of the area. The hike was fun, lunch at a local restaurant was delicious, and the trip to the beach and the “Venice of Portugal” was fun and interesting too.

This experience was great. The suspension bridge is amazing. Our tour guide Luis took us to the side entrance so it was a quick walk to the bridge. This tour then has you walk down the walkway rather than walking up and back. You get the experience with shorter walk which allows for stops at other towns. We made a quick stop in koso nova which was a cool little beach town and the time allowed us to dip our toes in the Atlantic. I wasn’t sure about the boat part of the trip prior to booking; however, Aveiro was great and boat tour amazing! The weather was hot when we took the tour so not hiking all day was a definite plus. Luis was a great tour guide and lunch in aurouca was nice. Lots of great history was provided by a very knowledgeable guide. If you want to do the bridge, this is the tour to book!

We had a great day out with our tour guide Joao and a small group of total 8 people in our minibus. Despite there being a forest fire and some of the walkways being closed on the day we visited, the company found a few workarounds to make the day run as smoothly as possible which was great. The lunch was a particularly impressive as we did not expect a full sit down lunch which included traditional Portuguese food and wine. Would highly recommended to anyone looking to explore some more of the country outside Porto. It was good value for money as well as this included all travel, lunch, access to bridges and walkways and a boat trip in Aveiro at the end. Thanks again!

The Paiva valley is beautiful and the suspension bridge and walkway are a great idea for how to bring tourists in to the area. Saying that, it was quiet, well managed and a wonderful experience. We weren’t so overwhelmed with Costa da nova or Aveiro after the beauty of the mountains but they were pleasant. Our guide Luis was so knowledgeable and interesting. The small group of 8 was friendly and intimate.

If you are in Porto, feeling a need to escape the crowds for some space and pretty views with a small group; here ya go! The bridge and the trail were expressly built to give tourists something to do. Pretty engineering too;)

This is a must do. Prepare to walk and have good walking shoes. Views are amazing. The tour guide was fantastic also. The bridge crossing was an experience to remember.
