What to expect
Moulin Rouge
After convening at the metro Blanche station we will cross the street and stop in front of the iconic Moulin Rouge. Here, we'll talk about the district of Montmartre as a whole and then learn about the history of the iconic Red windmill.
Café des Deux Moulins
We will see the famous filming location of the movie "Amelie" where in the film the character "Amelie Poulin" worked as a waitress.
A la Mere de Famille
Here we will see the oldest chocolate shop in Paris, we will spend a couple minutes admiring the shop and talk about its history as the permier chocolatier of Parisians. There will also be an opportunity for purchasing chocolate here as well.
Rue Des Abbesses
We will walk along Rue Des Abbesses and take a slight detour to see the place Vincent Van Gogh lived with his brother. We'll discuss the importance of Montmartre as an artists retreat and what that means today.
Le Bateau-Lavoir
In this unassuming place of Montmartre I will tell you the story of this once artists residence and its huge impact on the art world. After discussing the Bateau-Lavoir we will also see the historic Wallace fountain in the square and talk about its fascinating story and how it helped modernize the city. During this we will take a break from walking and spend a few minutes in the shade of the trees in the square.
Buste de Dalida
We'll stop at the famous statue of Dalida. I'll tell you the story of this famous singer in the French world and her tragic ending. I'll also indulge the story of why certain parts of her statue are shiny.
La Maison Rose
Here we will see the iconic Maison Rose. You'll have an opportunity to take pictures of this cute little restaurant while I tell you about its claim to fame and its cameos in films
Place Du Tertre
This busy square is vibrant with restaurants and artists today, I'll walk with you and tell you some fun facts about the artists that paint there today and some information on the square itself.
Basilique du Sacre-Coeur de Montmartre
We will walk up a couple flights of steps to find the view of Paris unveil its self. Here I'll point out some of the iconic architecture in the distance and finish our tour by telling you the amazing and dark history of the land the basilica stands on today as well as some facts about the architecture of the church itself.
