Today was a day of venturing off the beaten path, a treasure hunt of sorts, seeking out the stories etched into the landscape of Serra da Estrela. It’s amazing how much character is packed into this region, from panoramic vistas to quirky artistic expressions. I was eager to soak it all in, and share these discoveries with you.

My day began with a hearty breakfast at As Lezírias. Fuelled up with local bread and cheese, I set off towards the Miradouro Serra do Açor. The drive itself was a treat, winding through roads that offered glimpses of the valleys below. When I arrived, the view was simply breathtaking. The vastness of the landscape unfolded before me, a tapestry of greens and browns, stitched together by the silvery threads of distant streams. It was a moment of pure serenity, a reminder of nature's grandeur and my small place within it. I spent a good while there, just breathing in the crisp mountain air and letting the view wash over me.

From the Miradouro, I journeyed on to Cabeça do Velho. This intriguing rock formation, resembling an old man's head, is a testament to the power of time and the elements. With renewed energy, I headed to my final stop: the Murales 3D in a nearby village. As the sun began to dip below the horizon, I made my way to C.C.D. Leões Da Floresta for a well-deserved drink. This local bar was buzzing with activity, filled with locals catching up after a long day. I ordered a glass of local wine and soaked in the lively atmosphere, feeling a sense of connection to this community. It was a perfect way to end a day of exploration, surrounded by the warmth and camaraderie of the people of Serra da Estrela.

It was a truly memorable dining experience.

I plan to visit Poço do Funil and Miradouro do Sanatório, hoping to capture a few last glimpses of this beautiful region before heading back to Toronto. And, of course, I'll be stopping by A Loja do Brás to pick up a few souvenirs to remind me of my time here. It's been an incredible journey, and I can't wait to share my final reflections with you.
