Chasing Views and History in the Blue City
Today was a day of exploration, a blend of breathtaking vistas and delving into the rich history that permeates Chefchaouen. With my friends, I set out to capture the essence of this blue pearl, one panoramic view and ancient stone at a time. It’s amazing how a place can feel so serene and yet be so full of stories waiting to be discovered.
Our day began with a delightful breakfast at Nous Nous Cafe. I opted for a traditional Moroccan breakfast, complete with mint tea and an assortment of local pastries. The cafe was charming, and the atmosphere was buzzing with locals and tourists alike, all eager to start their day in this magical town. It was the perfect way to fuel up before our adventures.

With breakfast done, we decided to head towards Vue panoramique de la plage. Now, I know what you're thinking – a beach view in the middle of the Rif Mountains? Well, it turns out the name is a bit misleading! It's more of a scenic overlook that provides a stunning view of the surrounding landscape. The hike up was invigorating, and as we reached the top, we were rewarded with an incredible vista. The rolling hills, dotted with the distinctive blue buildings of Chefchaouen, stretched out before us. I couldn't resist snapping dozens of photos, trying to capture the sheer beauty of the scene. Sophia would have loved this view, I made a mental note to show her all the pictures when I get back to Leipzig.

The beauty of Chefchaouen lies not just in its blue walls, but in the way it invites you to slow down and appreciate the simple moments.
Next on our itinerary was a visit to المدينة القديمة الأثري, the ancient old city. Wandering through the narrow, winding streets felt like stepping back in time. The medina is a maze of blue-washed buildings, each one seemingly more picturesque than the last. We explored hidden alleyways, stumbled upon local artisans at work, and soaked in the unique atmosphere of this historical quarter. It was fascinating to learn about the city's origins, founded in the 15th century by Berbers and later becoming a refuge for Moors and Jews expelled from Spain. The blend of cultures is palpable, adding to the city's unique charm.

For lunch, we chose Restaurant Ali Baba. I had heard mixed reviews, but we decided to give it a try. I ordered a vegetarian tagine, eager to sample some authentic Moroccan cuisine. The tagine was flavorful and satisfying, filled with perfectly cooked vegetables and aromatic spices. While the service was a bit slow, the lovely atmosphere made up for it. It was a pleasant spot to relax and refuel after our morning of exploration.

In the late afternoon, we decided to treat ourselves to some refreshments at Sunset at sunset. This bar is known for its stunning views, and it certainly lived up to its reputation. We arrived just in time to witness a breathtaking sunset over the mountains. The sky was ablaze with vibrant colors, and the atmosphere was simply magical. Sipping on fresh orange juice, we toasted to another incredible day in Morocco.
