And to cap it all off, a rooftop bar with stunning views provided the perfect backdrop for a memorable evening.

Our day began with a delightful breakfast at Orivy Hoi An Local Food Restaurant. This small, family-owned restaurant, tucked away from the bustling streets, offered a peaceful start to our explorations. I chose a traditional Banh Xeo, a crispy crepe filled with savory delights, while Hans opted for Cao Lau, a regional noodle dish with a unique blend of flavors. Leila, ever the adventurous eater, surprised us by trying both and declaring them delicious! It was a perfect introduction to the authentic tastes of Hoi An.

After breakfast, we ventured into the heart of Hoi An's Old Town to visit the Precious Heritage Art Gallery Museum. This museum, the brainchild of French photographer Réhahn, is a moving tribute to Vietnam's ethnic diversity. As a cultural event coordinator, I was particularly drawn to Réhahn's dedication to preserving and celebrating the traditions of Vietnam's 54 ethnic groups. The museum showcases stunning portraits and traditional costumes, offering a glimpse into the unique cultures of these communities.

For lunch, we chose Mr. Sơn Restaurant, a local favorite known for its authentic Vietnamese dishes. The restaurant was bustling with activity, a testament to its popularity. I ordered the Mi Quang, another regional specialty with turmeric-infused noodles and flavorful toppings. Hans opted for the Cao Lau again, clearly a new favorite, and Leila enjoyed a plate of delicious spring rolls. The food was fresh, flavorful, and reasonably priced – a true taste of Hoi An.

After lunch, we took a short break at our hotel, Hoi An Merrily De Art Hotel, to escape the afternoon heat. Leila enjoyed a refreshing dip in the indoor pool, while Hans and I relaxed by the poolside, sipping on iced tea. It was a welcome respite before our evening adventures.

As the sun began to set, we ventured out for dinner at Hai Cafe Courtyard BBQ & Restaurant in Hoi An Old Town. This restaurant, housed in a landmark building, boasts a charming courtyard with an open-air kitchen. The aroma of grilled seafood and meats filled the air, creating a tantalizing sensory experience. We chose a selection of barbecued dishes, including fresh seafood and succulent pork skewers, all cooked to perfection. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was lively and festive.

To cap off our day, we headed to The Deck Hoi An, a rooftop bar offering panoramic views of the ancient town and the Thu Bon River. Perched atop the Hotel Royal Hoi An - MGallery, The Deck is known as Hoi An's highest rooftop bar. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the sky was painted in hues of orange, pink, and purple, casting a magical glow over Hoi An. We sipped on expertly crafted cocktails, inspired by local tales, and soaked in the breathtaking scenery.

Hans enjoyed a classic gin and tonic, while I opted for one of their signature cocktails with lemongrass. Leila, of course, enjoyed a refreshing juice while taking in the stunning view of the city. It was the perfect ending to a perfect day, a moment of tranquility and beauty that will forever be etched in our memories.

Looking ahead to tomorrow, we're excited to immerse ourselves further in Hoi An's cultural scene with a lantern-making class. I am particularly excited about this, as I have always admired the beautiful lanterns that adorn the streets of Hoi An. Afterwards, we plan to visit the Museum of Folk Culture to delve deeper into the traditions and customs of the region. We'll also be stopping by Reaching Out Arts & Crafts, a shop that supports artisans with disabilities, to find some unique souvenirs. I believe it's important to support local communities and sustainable businesses when we travel.

As I reflect on today's adventures, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to experience the beauty and culture of Hoi An with my family. It's moments like these that make travel so enriching, connecting us to new places, new people, and new perspectives. And as we continue our journey, I am excited to see what other treasures this enchanting town has in store for us.
