Today was a day of gentle exploration and delicious discoveries here in Ioannina. With the sun shining warmly, I decided to dedicate the day to enjoying the city's natural beauty and culinary offerings. It was a perfect way to unwind and soak in the local atmosphere before my departure tomorrow.

My day began with a delightful breakfast at Kamara Tsipouradiko. This place is a true hidden gem, far from the usual tourist spots. The atmosphere was buzzing with locals, creating an authentic Greek experience. I savored traditional pastries and strong Greek coffee, the perfect fuel for a day of exploration. The friendly bartender even offered complimentary small dishes, a testament to the warm hospitality I've come to adore here. I made a mental note to Klaus that we should try to recreate some of the recipes we have tried here.

With my stomach happy, I set off to Katsari Park. The park offered scenic views of Lake Pamvotis and the Castle of Ioannina. Although parts of the park felt a bit rundown, the walking paths were inviting. I found a quiet bench where I could sit and simply enjoy the views. The gentle breeze coming off the lake was incredibly refreshing, and I spent a good hour just watching the boats sail by and the ducks waddling along the shore. Sofia would have loved this, and I promised myself to bring her here one day.

Next on my itinerary was the Lake Pamvotis Ecosystem Interpretation Park. This ecological park is designed to educate visitors about the unique ecosystem surrounding Lake Pamvotis. As I strolled through the park, I was fascinated by the diverse flora and fauna. Educational signs provided insights into the lake's ecosystem, highlighting the importance of conservation. The park is beautifully maintained, with pathways meandering along the serene lakeside. I spotted several birdwatchers with their binoculars, and I could understand their enthusiasm. The park is a haven for various bird species, and the peaceful atmosphere made it easy to unwind and connect with nature. I thought how much my mother would have enjoyed this, as gardening and nature are her passion.

For lunch, I ventured to Miam Miam Το Μακαρονάδικο. I had heard great things about their pasta, and I was eager to try it for myself. It turned out that Miam Miam is permanently closed, which was a bit of a disappointment, but it gave me the opportunity to try a different restaurant. I ended up at a small taverna nearby, where I enjoyed a delicious souvlaki. The flavors were incredible, and the portion was generous. It was a satisfying meal that perfectly captured the essence of Greek cuisine.

In the afternoon, I decided to indulge in a little retail therapy. I visited District Concept Store, a local shop known for its unique blend of Greek and international fashion. The store had a cool, urban vibe, and I enjoyed browsing through their selection of clothing and accessories. I ended up buying a beautiful scarf with traditional Moroccan patterns, a little piece of home to bring back to Bonn. It reminded me of Azrou, and I felt a pang of nostalgia for my family back in Morocco.

As the day drew to a close, I made my way to elân for dinner. This modern café had been recommended to me by several locals, and I was excited to try it. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the staff were incredibly friendly. I ordered a traditional Greek salad and grilled fish, both of which were cooked to perfection. The flavors were fresh and vibrant, and it was the perfect way to end a day of culinary exploration. There was also a concert by Natasa Theodoridou, a Greek singer, taking place nearby, but I was too tired to attend.

Reflecting on my day, I felt grateful for the opportunity to experience the simple pleasures of Ioannina. The city has a unique charm that is both captivating and relaxing. From the scenic parks to the delicious food, every moment was a reminder of the beauty and richness of Greek culture.

Tomorrow marks the final day of my solo journey here in Ioannina. I plan to visit Litharitsia Park and Misios Mansion, soaking in a bit more of the city's charm before heading back to Bonn. I might also check out Equus bar. It’s strange how quickly time flies when you’re immersed in new experiences. I am already looking forward to sharing my stories and photos with Klaus and Sofia, and perhaps even planning a return trip together.
