Farewell, Bsharri!

As my solo journey through the Bsharri District draws to a close, I find myself filled with a mix of nostalgia and gratitude. This final day was a perfect blend of adventure and quiet reflection, a fitting end to an unforgettable experience. I embraced the spirit of Lebanon, cherishing every moment and every encounter.

The day began with a delightful breakfast at LBayt Baytak. The warm hospitality and traditional Lebanese flavors were the perfect start to my last day in Bsharri. After a hearty meal, I decided to embrace the adventurous side of the region with a visit to ProX Riding Club.

Located near the Hors Piste Hotel, getting there involved a short taxi ride from Bsharri towards Kfardebian. Nestled amidst the stunning Lebanese mountains, ProX Riding Club offers a range of exhilarating outdoor activities, including ATV and snowmobile rentals. Though snowmobiles weren't exactly in season, the prospect of exploring the rugged terrain on an ATV was too tempting to resist.

I rented an ATV and set off on a guided tour through the picturesque trails. The experience was nothing short of exhilarating. As I navigated the winding paths, I was treated to panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and peaks. The crisp mountain air and the thrill of the ride created an unforgettable sensory experience. I felt a sense of freedom as I traversed the landscape, connecting with nature in a way that only such an adventure can offer.

After the adrenaline-fueled adventure, I sought a more tranquil experience at غابة صنوبر (Ghabat Sanoubar), a nearby pine forest. The drive to the forest was scenic, passing through charming villages and offering glimpses of the region's natural beauty. Upon arrival, I was immediately struck by the serenity of the forest. The towering pine trees created a sense of peacefulness, and the air was filled with the soothing sound of rustling leaves.

I took a leisurely stroll along the forest trails, immersing myself in the tranquility of nature. The sunlight filtering through the trees created a magical ambiance, and I felt a deep sense of calm wash over me. It was the perfect opportunity for reflection, allowing me to process the experiences and emotions of the past few days. I thought about my family back in Bonn, Aisha and Malik, and how much they would have loved to explore this serene forest with me. I made a mental note to bring them here someday, to share the beauty and tranquility of this hidden gem.

As the afternoon approached, I decided to explore the local culture with a visit to Anoubin Market. Located in the heart of Bsharri, the market is a bustling hub of local life, offering a wide array of fresh produce, artisanal goods, and traditional Lebanese products.

The market was a feast for the senses. The vibrant colors of the fruits and vegetables, the enticing aromas of spices and baked goods, and the lively chatter of vendors and shoppers created an immersive experience. I wandered through the stalls, admiring the local crafts and sampling some of the regional delicacies. I purchased a selection of handmade jams and traditional sweets to take home as souvenirs for Klaus and the children. The friendly vendors were eager to share their stories and offer recommendations, making the experience all the more enriching.

For lunch, I savored the flavors of Lebanon at Masa Restaurant, located in Samar Resort. The restaurant's terrace offered breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, creating a delightful ambiance for a leisurely meal. I indulged in a variety of Lebanese dishes, each bursting with fresh, local ingredients and authentic flavors.

As the day drew to a close, I treated myself to a final Lebanese dinner at Chef Georgig. Situated on the Bcharre-Tannourine Road, the restaurant offers stunning views of the Lebanese mountains, providing a picturesque backdrop for an unforgettable dining experience. The menu featured a diverse selection of mezes, grilled meats, and fresh seafood, all prepared with locally sourced ingredients. I savored each bite, savoring the flavors of Lebanon one last time.

The friendly staff and warm atmosphere made me feel like I was dining with family. It was the perfect way to end my culinary journey through Bsharri. As I sat there, enjoying the delicious food and the stunning views, I reflected on the incredible experiences I had during my solo trip. I had immersed myself in the local culture, explored breathtaking landscapes, and connected with the warm and welcoming people of Lebanon.

As I prepare to leave Bsharri, I am filled with a sense of gratitude and fulfillment. This solo journey has been an incredible opportunity for personal growth and discovery. I have learned so much about myself and the world around me, and I am eager to share my experiences with others. The memories and friendships I have made here will stay with me forever. I will carry the spirit of Lebanon in my heart, and I hope to return someday to explore more of this beautiful and fascinating country.

Tomorrow, I will be heading back to Beirut to catch my flight back to Bonn. It's time to return to my life in Germany, to Klaus, Aisha, and Malik, and to my work as a cultural integration mediator.
