Day 10: Farewell Chefchaouen: A Blue Dream Comes to an End
Reflecting on a 10-day journey through Chefchaouen, exploring parks, plazas, savoring local cuisine, and enjoying a final sunset.
A Final Day in Blue
As my ten-day journey through the enchanting blue city of Chefchaouen draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the incredible experiences I've had. Today was all about soaking in the last moments of this magical place, revisiting some favorite spots, and savoring the unique atmosphere that makes Chefchaouen so special. It’s hard to believe it’s already the final day; time really does fly when you’re surrounded by such beauty.
Our day started, as many others have, with a delightful breakfast at RESTAURANT CASA ANDALUZ. Lena and I enjoyed some traditional Moroccan fare, including flavorful chicken and mint tea, while reminiscing about our favorite moments from the past week. The restaurant’s cozy atmosphere and friendly staff made it the perfect spot to start our last day in Chefchaouen.

After breakfast, we decided to take a leisurely stroll through Park Sidi Abdelhamid. The park offered a panoramic view of Chefchaouen, with its blue-washed buildings nestled against the backdrop of the Rif Mountains. While some reviews mentioned that the park isn't perfectly maintained, we found its natural beauty and tranquil atmosphere to be quite charming. It was a great spot to take some final photos and simply enjoy the scenery.

From there, we wandered over to Plaza Mohammed V, a central hub for both locals and tourists. The plaza was bustling with activity, and we enjoyed watching children play and locals going about their day. The well-kept greenery and colorful flowers added to the plaza's appeal, and it was a perfect place to relax and soak in the vibrant Moroccan culture.

Sometimes, the most memorable moments are the simplest ones: a quiet walk in a park, a shared meal with friends, or a breathtaking view at sunset.
For lunch, we opted for Restaurant paloma, drawn in by its excellent reviews and diverse menu. The African and French cuisine was a delightful fusion of flavors, and the tagine was particularly impressive. The restaurant's luxurious decor and relaxed service made for a memorable dining experience. Lena was particularly impressed with the quality-to-price ratio.

As the day began to wind down, we made our way to Sunset at sunset, a bar known for its captivating views. The bar was a bit of a hidden gem, but it was well worth the effort to find. Sipping on refreshing orange juice, we watched as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the blue city. It was the perfect way to end our last day in Chefchaouen.

For our final dinner, we chose Mandala, a restaurant recommended for its Italian pasta and pizza salads. I decided to try the fillet steak, while Lena went for the pizza. Both were delicious, and the atmosphere was lively and welcoming. It was a fitting end to our culinary adventures in Chefchaouen.

Looking back, this trip to Chefchaouen has been an unforgettable experience. Exploring the blue-washed streets, immersing ourselves in the local culture, and enjoying the stunning natural beauty of the region has been truly remarkable. While I am looking forward to returning to Berlin, a part of me will always remain in this enchanting blue city.
As this is the final day of our trip, there's no itinerary for tomorrow. It's time to head back to Berlin and start planning our next adventure. Chefchaouen, you will be missed!
I’ve always been drawn to places with a strong sense of identity, and Chefchaouen certainly delivers on that front. As a software developer, I appreciate the precision and care that goes into maintaining the town's unique aesthetic. And as a photographer, I was constantly inspired by the play of light and shadow on the blue walls. It’s a place that stimulates both the analytical and creative sides of my brain. Lena, with her graphic design background, was equally captivated by the visual harmony of the town. We both found ourselves constantly reaching for our cameras, trying to capture the perfect shot.
One of the things that struck me most about Chefchaouen was the warmth and hospitality of the people. Despite being a popular tourist destination, the town has managed to retain its authentic charm. We were always greeted with smiles and offers of help, and we felt a genuine sense of connection with the local community.
As I pack my bags and prepare for the journey home, I know that the memories of this trip will stay with me for a long time. Chefchaouen is more than just a pretty town; it’s a place that nourishes the soul and inspires the imagination. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have experienced its magic, and I hope to return someday.
And to anyone considering a trip to Chefchaouen, I say this: go. Immerse yourself in the blue, embrace the culture, and prepare to be enchanted. You won’t regret it.
Until next time, Chefchaouen. Thank you for the memories.
