Adieu, Imlil!

As the sun sets on my final day in the Imlil Region, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey I've undertaken. This solo trip to Morocco has been nothing short of transformative, filled with breathtaking landscapes, vibrant culture, and unforgettable moments of self-discovery. It's hard to believe that my 11 days here are coming to an end.

My last day in Imlil was designed to be a full immersion into the beauty of the Atlas Mountains. I started with a hearty breakfast at Targa Imoula imlil. The Targa Imoula offered stunning mountain views from its terrace, which made for a delightful start to the day. The warm welcome and kind service I received made me feel right at home. I fueled up with traditional Moroccan fare, savoring each bite as I mentally prepared for a day of exploration.

With my stomach full and my spirit high, I set out to explore IMLIL TREKS TOUBKAL. The agency is owned by Abdellatif, a local guide, and offers various activities and tours throughout Morocco. I decided to embark on a guided trek to fully appreciate the region's natural beauty. The trails led me through remote valleys and past traditional Berber villages, offering glimpses into a way of life that has remained unchanged for centuries. The experience was both humbling and awe-inspiring, reinforcing my appreciation for the simple things in life.

For lunch, I stopped at Auberge Atlas Tichka. The restaurant had a perfect location with lovely views. I enjoyed a delicious meal of traditional Moroccan cuisine, savoring the flavors of tagine and couscous while soaking in the panoramic vistas. The friendly staff and cozy atmosphere made it a perfect midday respite.

In the afternoon, I indulged in a bit of shopping at Latifshop Moroccan Artisanat & déco. The shop offered a wide array of Moroccan handicrafts and decorative items, each telling a story of the country's rich artistic heritage. I picked up a few souvenirs for Mei and Lina, hoping to bring a piece of Morocco back to Berlin. I found a beautiful Berber carpet and some small wooden toys for Lina. I'm sure Mei will appreciate the carpet when we redecorate our living room. The shop was filled with beautiful items, and I could have spent hours browsing the collection.

As evening approached, I made my way to Auberge Atlas Tamatertt for my final dinner in Imlil. The family rooms have air-conditioning and free WiFi. The Auberge offered stunning views of the surrounding mountains, creating a serene and picturesque setting. I savored a delicious meal, reflecting on the incredible experiences I've had during my solo journey. The peaceful ambiance and the delicious food were the perfect way to cap off my adventure.

This trip to the Imlil Region has been more than just a vacation; it has been a journey of self-discovery and connection. Traveling solo has allowed me to immerse myself fully in the local culture and connect with the people in a way that would not have been possible otherwise. I have learned so much about myself and the world around me, and I am returning to Berlin with a renewed sense of purpose and gratitude.

I am already thinking about my next adventure. Perhaps I’ll convince Mei and Lina to join me next time. I know Lina would love to ride a mule through the mountains, and Mei would appreciate the beautiful scenery and unique culture.
