A Day of Serenity and Art in Pelion
Today was a beautiful blend of nature's tranquility and artistic discovery. Pelion continues to surprise me with its hidden gems, and I'm excited to share my experiences from today's adventure. It was a day filled with the soothing sounds of water, the vibrant flavors of Greek cuisine, and the inspiring touch of local artistry.
Our day began with a hearty breakfast at To Katofli tis Ketis. Lena had found this charming spot, and it was the perfect way to start our explorations. The restaurant was located in the picturesque village of Katochori. The cheese pies with honey were a delightful combination of savory and sweet, and the rabbit with red sauce was cooked to perfection. Sofia enjoyed her meatballs. The cozy atmosphere and warm service made us feel right at home. It's these kinds of authentic experiences that make traveling so rewarding. After breakfast, we set off to find the Spring of Manas.

The drive to the Spring of Manas was stunning. The winding roads took us through lush forests and offered breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. As we got closer, the air became noticeably cooler and fresher. The Spring of Manas is located near Portaria, nestled in a dense forest. The area was teeming with wildflowers and towering trees, creating a serene and picturesque setting.

We took a leisurely stroll along the paths that meandered through the area. The sound of crystal-clear water flowing over rocks created a soothing melody. Sofia was immediately captivated, chasing butterflies and collecting colorful pebbles. The spring itself was a sight to behold, with water gently cascading over the rocks. I couldn't resist capturing the scene with my camera, trying to capture the essence of this hidden gem.

After spending a couple of hours at the Spring of Manas, we decided to explore some of the activities Pelion Activities had to offer. We found a local guide who suggested a short hike through the forest, leading to a hidden waterfall. The hike was relatively easy, perfect for Sofia, and the scenery was simply breathtaking. The trail was surrounded by plane trees, ivy, and ferns. We even crossed a small canal along the way. At the end of the trail, we were rewarded with the sight of a beautiful waterfall, cascading into a clear pool below.

We spent some time at the waterfall, enjoying the cool mist and the tranquil atmosphere. Sofia even dipped her toes in the water, squealing with delight at the refreshing chill. It was moments like these that made the trip so special, creating lasting memories with my family.
By lunchtime, we were all quite hungry, so we headed to Armonia Restaurant in Agios Ioannis. This restaurant came highly recommended, and it did not disappoint. The location was perfect, offering stunning views of the Aegean Sea. We sat on the terrace, soaking in the beautiful scenery while enjoying our meal. I ordered the grilled octopus, which was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. Lena opted for the moussaka, a classic Greek dish that was rich and satisfying. Sofia enjoyed a simple pasta dish, which she devoured with gusto. The service was exceptional, and the staff made us feel incredibly welcome.

After lunch, we decided to indulge in a bit of shopping. We visited Mediterraneo Art Store in Ag. Kiriaki. This charming gift shop was filled with handmade crafts and artworks, showcasing the rich heritage of the Pelion region. The store had a warm and inviting atmosphere, filled with the scent of local artistry and creativity. I was immediately drawn to the intricate ceramics and beautifully crafted textiles.

I ended up buying a few small ceramics as souvenirs, each piece telling a unique story. Lena found a beautiful hand-woven scarf, and Sofia picked out a colorful ceramic animal. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and shared insights about the crafts and the artists behind them. It was a wonderful experience, connecting with the local culture in a meaningful way. It’s nice to support the local artisans and bring home something unique.
As the day drew to a close, we made our way to Akti in Agios Ioannis for dinner. This restaurant was right by the sea, offering breathtaking sunset views. The ambiance was perfect, with a gentle sea breeze and the sound of waves lapping against the shore. I decided on the grilled fish, which was incredibly fresh and flavorful. Lena chose the lobster pasta, and Sofia had some calamari. The meal was a perfect ending to a perfect day, as the sky turned into a canvas of vibrant colors during sunset.
