A Day of Sun-Kissed Shores and Sky-High Views

Today was a day of contrasts, a perfect blend of relaxation and exploration that Pelion seems to offer in abundance. From the tranquil shores of Limnionas Beach to the panoramic vistas from the Pelion Cross of Jesus Observation Point, it was an experience that reminded me why I love traveling with friends and discovering new corners of the world.

Our day began with a hearty breakfast at Mountain Top Cafe - Pelion. The name didn't lie; the views were as satisfying as the strong Greek coffee and the pastries. Fuelled up, we set off for our first destination: Limnionas Beach.

The drive itself was an adventure. The roads leading to Limnionas are narrow and winding, a characteristic of Pelion's rugged landscape. But the anticipation of reaching a secluded beach kept our spirits high. As we descended towards the coast, the turquoise waters shimmering in the distance were a welcome sight.

Limnionas Beach is a gem. Unlike some of the more crowded beaches, Limnionas felt like a secret hideaway. The beach is a mix of pebbles and sand, with dramatic rock formations framing the coastline. The water was crystal clear and inviting, perfect for a refreshing morning swim. I couldn't resist diving in, the cool water a welcome contrast to the warm August sun. Lena would have loved this place, she always appreciates a quiet beach with stunning scenery.

We spent a few hours lounging on the beach, soaking up the sun and enjoying the tranquility. Some of us tried snorkeling, exploring the small caves and rock formations along the shore. The vibe was relaxed and peaceful, a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Berlin. I made a mental note to bring Sofia here someday; she would adore building sandcastles and splashing in the gentle waves.

After a satisfying morning at the beach, our stomachs started to rumble. We packed up and headed to Souarè Anelion Pelion for lunch. We shared a variety of dishes, from fresh seafood to hearty salads, all bursting with flavor. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the service was excellent.

With our bellies full, we embarked on our next adventure: a visit to the Pelion Cross of Jesus Observation Point. The drive up to the observation point was steep and winding, but the views along the way were worth it. As we ascended, the landscape transformed from lush coastal vegetation to more rugged, mountainous terrain.

Reaching the observation point, we were greeted by a breathtaking panoramic view. The Aegean Sea stretched out before us, a vast expanse of blue meeting the horizon. The rolling hills of Pelion cascaded down towards the coast, dotted with charming villages and verdant forests. The iconic cross stood tall, a symbol of faith and hope, adding to the serene atmosphere.

We spent a good hour at the observation point, taking photos and simply soaking in the beauty. The air was fresh and clean, and the silence was broken only by the gentle breeze. It was a moment of pure tranquility, a chance to reflect and appreciate the natural wonders around us. I thought about Lena and Sofia, wishing they could be here to share this experience with me.

As the sun began to set, we made our way back down the mountain. The golden light cast a magical glow over the landscape, creating a scene of unparalleled beauty. For dinner, we chose Synantisi, a traditional taverna in a nearby village. The food was simple but delicious, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We shared stories and laughter over plates of grilled meat and fresh vegetables, savoring the last moments of our day together.

Reflecting on the day, I felt a deep sense of gratitude. Pelion had surprised me with its beauty and charm. From the tranquil shores of Limnionas Beach to the panoramic vistas from the Pelion Cross, it was a day of contrasts, a perfect blend of relaxation and exploration. I'm already looking forward to tomorrow's adventure, when we plan to ride The Train of Pelion (Ano Lekhonia - Milies) and explore the Sycamore of peace square. And perhaps, after that, a relaxing drink at the Red Nose Bar. I have a feeling this trip with my friends will be one for the books.

Before drifting off to sleep, I realized I hadn't charged my portable charger and that I forgot my first aid kit back in Berlin. I'll need to remember to buy these items soon. Good thing there are shops nearby.
