Today was a day of geological wonders and historical echoes in the Dades Valley.
The raw beauty of Morocco never ceases to amaze me, and today was no exception. I spent the day exploring the famed Monkey Paw Mountains and the ancient Citadelle Dades, immersing myself in the stories etched into the very landscape. With my friends by my side, every moment felt like a discovery, a shared adventure that deepened our bond and appreciation for this remarkable corner of the world.

Our day began with a hearty breakfast at Café Restaurant Oussikis. The warm Moroccan hospitality was the perfect start, with a spread of local flavors that energized us for the adventures ahead. The restaurant's inviting ambiance and the promise of a day filled with exploration made it a memorable beginning.

Fuelled up, we set off to explore the Monkey Paw Mountains. As we approached, the unique rock formations jutted out against the clear sky, living up to their whimsical name. The landscape was surreal, almost like stepping onto another planet. It's incredible how nature can sculpt such peculiar shapes over millennia. We spent hours hiking around the area, snapping photos and marveling at the panoramic views of the Dades Valley. The vibrant colors of the rocks, ranging from deep reds to soft oranges, were especially striking in the morning light.

After our hike, we were ready for lunch and headed to Café-restaurant Timzzillite Chez Mohamed. This spot is known for its authentic Moroccan dishes, and it didn't disappoint. I savored a delicious tagine, while my friends opted for the kefta, all agreeing that it was some of the best food we'd had on the trip. The café itself had a cozy, welcoming vibe, making it the perfect place to relax and refuel after our morning adventure.

With our bellies full, we ventured to the Citadelle Dades. This ancient fortress, dating back to the 18th century, stands as a testament to the region's rich history. As we wandered through its walls, I couldn't help but imagine the lives of those who once lived and defended this strategic stronghold. The citadelle offered breathtaking views of the Dades Valley, providing a unique perspective on the landscape we had explored earlier in the day.

As the day wound down, we found ourselves at Café Achaf, a local bar known for its relaxed atmosphere and stunning mountain views. Sipping on traditional mint tea, we recounted our favorite moments from the day, laughing and sharing stories as the sun began to set. The warmth of the tea and the camaraderie among us made it a perfect ending to a day of exploration and discovery. It reminded me of evenings back in Potsdam with Klara and Mateo, sharing stories over dinner.

As an app developer, I often think about how technology can enhance travel, but sometimes, it's the simple act of immersing oneself in a place like this that creates the most lasting memories. I am so glad I didn't forget my camera, because the images I captured today will be great additions to my blog on Evendo!

Reflecting on the day, I realized I forgot to pack sunscreen, something I had on my 'Trip Essentials' list. Note to self: always double-check the essentials, even when you think you're prepared!

Tomorrow, we plan to explore the Cascade and Randonnee Vallee Dades au Maroc [Hiking Dades Valley in Morocco], hoping to uncover more of the valley's hidden gems. I am looking forward to sharing those experiences with you as well!

I am also reminded of my home country, Chile. I wonder if Klara and Mateo are missing the empanadas I make. I´ll have to make some when I get back to Potsdam!
