As the sun sets on our final day in the Dades Valley, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey we’ve shared over the past twelve days. This trip was more than just a vacation; it was an immersion into a world of breathtaking landscapes, vibrant culture, and the simple joys of friendship. It’s hard to believe our time here is coming to an end, but the memories we’ve made will undoubtedly last a lifetime.

Our last day began, as many others did, with a hearty breakfast at Café Restaurant ANBD. The spread was fantastic, offering a mix of traditional Moroccan fare and familiar breakfast staples. Fuelled up and ready to go, we decided to make the most of our remaining hours in the valley. This café is known for combining Moroccan hospitality with diverse culinary options, making it a must-visit destination in Boumalne Dades.

Our first stop was La Porte du Dades. The architecture was stunning, showcasing the beauty of Berber design. We spent some time wandering around, taking photos, and soaking in the panoramic views from the rooftop terrace. The red rock formations against the clear blue sky created a scene that felt straight out of a movie. The landscape was picturesque, and the rooftop offered amazing views. I couldn't help but think how different this was from the modern architecture Klara designs back in Potsdam, yet both share a common thread of thoughtful design and harmony with their surroundings.

Next, we decided to take a guided tour with Official Tour Guide Gorge Dades. Venturing deeper into the Dades Gorge with a knowledgeable guide was an enriching experience. They shared insights into the geological history of the area, pointing out unique rock formations and explaining how the Dades River has shaped the landscape over millions of years. I found myself marveling at the sheer scale of the gorge, with its towering walls reaching up to 1,600 feet in some places.

For lunch, we opted for Le Basilic Restaurant Des Rêves. The restaurant had a charming ambiance, and the menu featured a delightful array of Moroccan and Mediterranean dishes. I decided to try the tagine, while my friends sampled some of the pasta dishes. Everything was delicious, and the service was impeccable. It was the perfect spot to relax and refuel before continuing our exploration. The blend of traditional and modern cuisine was a testament to the evolving culinary scene in the Dades Valley.

In the late afternoon, we found ourselves at Café-restaurant Timzzillite Chez Mohamed. This spot is known for its authentic Moroccan dishes and welcoming atmosphere. As the day wound down, we decided to treat ourselves to some local nightlife at aubesrges resstauraune zahra. We sipped on mint tea, listened to local music, and shared stories and laughter. It was a fitting end to our Moroccan adventure, a moment to savor the camaraderie and the memories we’ve created together.

As I packed my bags, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of gratitude for this incredible experience. The Dades Valley had exceeded all my expectations, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty, cultural immersion, and genuine human connection. I thought about Mateo and how much he would have loved exploring the canyons and learning about the Berber traditions. Perhaps one day, I’ll bring him and Klara back to experience this magical place.

Reflecting on the trip, I realize how much I appreciate traveling with friends. Sharing these experiences with others has made them even more meaningful and memorable. Whether it was hiking through the gorges, sampling local cuisine, or simply enjoying each other’s company under the stars, every moment has been enriched by the bonds of friendship. We supported each other, laughed together, and created memories that we’ll cherish for years to come.

Tomorrow, we begin our journey back home, carrying with us the sights, sounds, and flavors of the Dades Valley. While I’m eager to return to Potsdam and share my stories with Klara and Mateo, a part of me will always remain in this enchanting corner of Morocco. Until next time, Dades Valley, adieu!
