Sophie and I ventured deeper into this legendary mountain, seeking out its hidden gems and savoring the local culture. It’s remarkable how each day here brings a new perspective, a fresh appreciation for the raw beauty and historical significance of this place.

Our day began with a hearty breakfast at Stavros Refuge - Shelter D. The aroma of freshly baked bread and strong Greek coffee filled the air, a perfect start to a day of adventure. The refuge itself was cozy, the wooden beams and warm lighting creating a welcoming atmosphere. As I savored my breakfast, I couldn't help but think of my grandfather back in Huancavelica, Peru, and the simple, honest meals we shared. It’s funny how travel can evoke such vivid memories. Sophie, ever the early bird, was already snapping photos of the sunrise painting the mountain peaks in hues of gold and pink. After fueling up, we were ready to explore.

Our first stop was Χιονοσπηλιά, the snow cave. The trek there was invigorating, the crisp mountain air filling our lungs. December in Mount Olympus means snow, and the landscape was a winter wonderland. I was grateful for the warm clothing we had packed, especially since I had forgotten my raincoat. Both were delicious, comforting and flavorful. It was the perfect way to end a day of exploration, a taste of local culture that left us feeling satisfied and content. The prices were reasonable, making it a great value for money option.

I am particularly excited about visiting Φαράγγι Ενιπέα, as I have heard that the views are spectacular and the hike is relatively easy. Sophie is looking forward to having breakfast at Nero Restaurant - Cavo Olympo. But for now, it’s time to rest and recharge, ready for another day of exploration among the gods.
