As my solo adventure in the Con Dao Islands draws to a close, I find myself filled with a mix of emotions. This last day was dedicated to paying respects to the island's history and soaking in its natural beauty one last time. It's hard to believe how quickly these past sixteen days have flown by. From exploring the bustling streets to finding solace in the quiet beaches, Con Dao has gifted me with memories I know I'll cherish forever.

My day began with a hearty breakfast at Infinity Cafe & Restaurant. I savored a traditional Vietnamese coffee while enjoying the cozy atmosphere. It was the perfect way to fuel up for a day of exploration and reflection. I took a moment to journal about my experiences in Con Dao, capturing the essence of this beautiful island before heading out for the day. I thought back to my time in Berlin, missing the vibrant street art scene, but knowing I'd be back soon enough, filled with new inspiration.

First on the agenda was a visit to the Vo Thi Sau Hero Grave. This is a significant cultural and historical site, dedicated to Vo Thi Sau, a young female revolutionary who played a crucial role in Vietnam's struggle for independence. The cemetery is the final resting place of over 20,000 martyrs, including revolutionary figures. Visiting the grave of Vo Thi Sau is considered part of a spiritual tour, attracting tourists from all over the world.

The atmosphere at the grave was serene yet powerful. As I walked through the cemetery, I couldn't help but feel a deep sense of respect for the sacrifices made by so many. After paying my respects, I made my way to Chim Chim cape. This renowned destination offers tourists dreamy landscapes of turquoise beaches and imposing mountains. The cape is known for its panoramic views of the South China Sea. The roads were well-maintained, making it easy to navigate by car.

The drive itself was stunning, with lush greenery on one side and the sparkling ocean on the other. When I arrived at Chim Chim cape, I was immediately struck by its natural beauty. The turquoise waters, the golden sands, and the imposing mountains created a breathtaking vista. I spent some time wandering along the cape, taking in the views and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. I could see Con Son Bay from the cape.

I found a quiet spot to sit and reflect on my journey. The gentle sound of the waves crashing against the rocks was incredibly soothing. I thought about the contrasts of Con Dao – the somber history and the stunning natural beauty, the resilience of the people and the tranquility of the beaches. It’s a place that stays with you, long after you’ve left its shores. I took some photos, wanting to capture the essence of this place, hoping to bring a piece of it back with me to Berlin.

For lunch, I stopped at Nhà hàng Poulo Condore. This restaurant is known for serving authentic Vietnamese cuisine and fresh seafood. The restaurant has a seating capacity of over 300, and specializes in wedding receptions and group meetings. The chefs prepare seafood dishes according to the customers' requests, and they also offer a special menu of dishes from the three regions of Vietnam.

I ordered a delicious seafood dish, savoring the fresh flavors and spices. The restaurant had a view of the sea, adding to the pleasant dining experience. As I ate, I thought about my culinary adventures in Berlin, comparing the vibrant flavors of Vietnamese cuisine with the hearty dishes of German food.

As the day wound down, I decided to visit Tiệm bia của mực for a drink. This charming bar is known for its welcoming ambiance and local beers. It is a great spot for both locals and tourists to relax and socialize. The bar specializes in a variety of local beers and beverages, providing a true taste of Vietnamese culture. The bar is often frequented by travelers sharing stories and making connections, enhancing the sense of community.

I enjoyed a local beer while chatting with some fellow travelers. We shared stories of our adventures, laughing and exchanging tips about our favorite spots in Vietnam. It was a perfect way to end the day, connecting with others and soaking in the local culture. The bar is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the beautiful Con Dao islands.

For my final dinner in Con Dao, I chose Nhà Hàng Cánh Buồm. This restaurant is celebrated for its fresh, high-quality seafood and traditional Vietnamese dishes. As I packed my bags, I couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for this incredible journey. Con Dao had exceeded all my expectations, offering a perfect blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. I'll be flying back to Berlin soon, but a piece of my heart will forever remain on this enchanting island.

Con Dao is more than just a destination; it's an experience that touches your soul and leaves you forever changed.

Tomorrow, I will be heading to the airport to begin my journey back to Berlin. It’s the end of my trip, but the memories and experiences will last a lifetime. Con Dao, you have been an absolute dream.
