Today was all about embracing the tranquility and natural beauty that Con Dao has to offer. I set out on a journey to explore some of the island's most captivating spots, eager to soak in the serene atmosphere and capture the essence of this hidden gem. The day was a perfect blend of exploration, reflection, and culinary delights, reminding me why I embarked on this solo adventure in the first place.

My day began with a hearty breakfast at Cây Bàng Đỏ. I wanted to try something truly local, so I went for a traditional Vietnamese breakfast. The restaurant was bustling with locals, always a good sign, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. It’s amazing how a simple meal can set the tone for the entire day. Fuelled up, I was ready to start my exploration.

My first stop was Bãi Nhát, a beach known for its unique beauty. As I arrived, I was immediately struck by the stunning landscape. I spent a good hour just walking along the shore, taking in the breathtaking views and listening to the soothing sound of the waves. What makes Bãi Nhát so special is that it's only accessible during low tide. It felt like discovering a hidden treasure, a secret beach unveiled only at certain times of the day. The rugged cliffs surrounding the beach added to its dramatic beauty, making it a perfect spot for photography. I snapped away, trying to capture the essence of this untouched paradise.

Next on my itinerary was the Holy Cave, a site of spiritual significance and natural wonder. The journey to the cave was an adventure in itself. I followed a winding path through the lush greenery of Con Dao National Park. The air was fresh and filled with the sounds of nature – birds chirping, leaves rustling, and the occasional call of a distant animal. As I approached the cave, I could feel a sense of tranquility wash over me. The Holy Cave, also known as Hang Đức Mẹ, is a Catholic church and pilgrimage site dedicated to Saint Mary. Inside the cave, there's a statue of the Virgin Mary, and the space is often filled with the soft glow of candles and the scent of incense. It's a place for reflection and prayer, and I took a moment to light a candle and offer a silent wish for peace and well-being. The cave itself is a natural wonder, with intricate rock formations and a peaceful atmosphere. The natural stone walls create a unique architectural space, and the surroundings are perfect for meditation and relaxation.

After a morning of exploration and reflection, it was time for lunch. I headed to Nhà hàng Poulo Condore, eager to try some of the local seafood. The restaurant had a charming ambiance, and the staff were incredibly welcoming. I ordered a seafood platter, which included grilled fish, prawns, and squid, all freshly caught from the surrounding waters. The flavors were incredible, and I savored every bite while enjoying the beautiful views of the ocean. Poulo Condore also offers a range of Vietnamese and international dishes, but I was determined to stick to the local specialties.

With my appetite satisfied, I decided to spend the afternoon relaxing and soaking in the island's beauty. I found a quiet spot on An Hải Beach, one of Con Dao's most picturesque beaches. I laid down on the soft sand, closed my eyes, and let the gentle sea breeze lull me into a state of relaxation. It was pure bliss, a perfect moment of serenity in this island paradise. I even took a dip in the clear, turquoise waters, feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. The beach was relatively quiet, allowing me to fully appreciate the natural beauty of the surroundings.

As the sun began to set, I made my way to Sea Sense Bar and Grill, a popular spot known for its stunning sunset views. I ordered a refreshing cocktail and settled in to watch the sky transform into a canvas of vibrant colors. The sunset was absolutely magical, painting the sky with hues of orange, pink, and purple. It was a perfect ending to a perfect day, a moment of pure beauty that I will cherish forever. The bar had a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and I struck up a conversation with a few other travelers, sharing stories and experiences. It's moments like these that make solo travel so rewarding – the opportunity to connect with people from all walks of life and create lasting memories.

For dinner, I decided to try Kwai's Bistro Con Dao, a place recommended for its cozy ambiance and delightful dishes. I had heard great things about their seafood and refreshing beverages. The bistro was indeed charming, with a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. I ordered a grilled seafood dish, and it was absolutely delicious. The seafood was fresh and perfectly cooked, and the flavors were a delightful blend of local spices and herbs. While some reviews mention that they don’t always serve food, I was lucky enough to catch them on a day when the kitchen was open. The bistro also had a great selection of drinks, and I enjoyed a refreshing cocktail with my meal. It was a perfect way to end the day, savoring delicious food in a cozy and welcoming setting.

As I reflect on today's adventures, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to experience the beauty and tranquility of Con Dao. Tomorrow, I plan to explore more of Con Dao's historical sites, including Sở Rẫy and Hòn Tre Lớn. I'm also looking forward to trying the local cuisine at MAY BISTRO for breakfast, Nhà hàng Thu Tâm for lunch, and Nhà hàng Phố Biển for dinner. A visit to Shop Thắng Hướng is also on the cards, hoping to find some unique souvenirs to take back home. As my trip nears its end, I'm determined to make the most of every moment, embracing the spirit of adventure and discovery that has defined my solo journey.

Con Dao continues to surprise and inspire me, and I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings. I think I'll also swing by one of the local markets to pick up some mứt hạt bàng (Con Dao Almonds) as a treat. The bàng trees are everywhere here, with some of them being over 100 years old. It's nice to know that the leaves and fruits of these trees helped sustain political prisoners many years ago. Good night from Con Dao!
