Today was a day of exploration and indulgence as we ventured out to the Helgenæs peninsula. I was excited to discover the blend of history, stunning landscapes, and culinary delights that this corner of Mols Bjerge National Park had to offer. With Andreas and Sophie in tow, we set out, ready to immerse ourselves in the beauty and tranquility of the Danish countryside.

Our day began with a hearty breakfast at Restaurant Moment. It’s always a treat to start the day with their thoughtfully prepared dishes. After breakfast, we made our way towards Helgenæs, eager to explore its coastal charm.

Driving through the rolling hills of Mols Bjerge is always a pleasure. The landscape is so soothing, and it feels a world away from our busy lives in Bonn. I couldn’t help but think how much Sophie would enjoy a bike ride here; it’s something we’ll definitely have to do on our next visit. The area around Sletterhage Fyr is perfect for photography, and I couldn't resist capturing the stunning scenery. I imagined what it must have been like for General Rye to hold up the attacking force from this very spot during the Schleswig Wars.

As we drove, we noticed several small, unmanned stands selling local produce and crafts. It’s heartwarming to see this kind of community spirit and trust. We stopped at one and bought some fresh berries, leaving payment in the honesty box. It’s these little moments that make traveling so special, reminding me of the goodness and integrity of people.

The restaurant had a cozy and inviting atmosphere, and we were warmly greeted by the staff. We chose a table in the charming courtyard, which was adorned with flowers and twinkling lights.

It’s these kinds of days that remind me why I love to travel and explore new places. Sharing these experiences with Andreas and Sophie makes it even more special. Tomorrow, we plan to explore Dragsmur and Mols Bjerge stien, and I am already looking forward to more adventures in this beautiful national park.
