Island Farewells and Cityscapes Ahead

As our Seychellois adventure nears its end, today was a bittersweet symphony of goodbyes and new beginnings. We savored our last moments on the idyllic island of La Digue, then set sail for Mahé, the bustling heart of the Seychelles. It's amazing how quickly a place can feel like home, and leaving La Digue felt like saying goodbye to family. But the promise of exploring Mahé and its unique offerings helped ease the transition.

The day began with a simple yet satisfying breakfast at Spice & Bake Take Away. It's become our little tradition to grab a quick bite there, and this morning, the aroma of Creole spices filled the air as we enjoyed some flavorful pastries. It was a perfect way to fuel up for our ferry journey.

The Inter Island Ferry was our chariot for the day, whisking us away from the familiar shores of La Digue. The journey itself was smooth, offering stunning views of the turquoise waters and neighboring islands. Hans, ever the attentive husband, kept a watchful eye on me, knowing how emotional I get during departures. I couldn’t help but feel a pang of sadness as the silhouette of La Digue faded into the horizon. This island holds a special place in my heart, a piece of my childhood that I was so happy to share with Hans. It was on that ferry that I started to reflect on the journey, on the warm smiles of the people of La Digue, the taste of fresh coconut water, and the feeling of sand between my toes.

The journey may have an end, but the memories will last a lifetime.

As we approached Mahé, the landscape transformed. The serene, untouched beauty of La Digue gave way to the more developed and vibrant cityscape of Eden Island. It was quite a contrast, but one that signaled a new chapter in our Seychellois adventure.

Eden Island was a world of its own, a modern oasis with luxury yachts, upscale boutiques, and a lively atmosphere. We strolled through Eden Plaza, marveling at the array of shops and restaurants. Hans, always keen on finding a good deal, led us to Quiksilver, where he picked up a stylish new beach shirt. I couldn't resist browsing through the various shops, soaking in the cosmopolitan vibe of this unique island.

For lunch, we decided to try Lobster Bay Restaurant, and it was a culinary delight. The seafood was incredibly fresh, and the Creole flavors were a welcome reminder of my roots. Hans, who usually prefers German cuisine, was thoroughly impressed, declaring it one of the best meals he's had on this trip.

After lunch, we indulged in a bit of retail therapy. Eden Island boasts over 50 shops, and I couldn't resist picking up a few souvenirs for friends and family back in Bonn. We explored the local art galleries, clothing stores, and even a bookstore, each offering a unique glimpse into the Seychellois culture.

As the sun began to set, we made our way to Jolly Roger Bar And Restaurant for dinner. Located on Mahé, it promised a lively atmosphere and delicious food. The restaurant lived up to its reputation, with live music, a vibrant crowd, and a menu filled with Creole specialties. We savored our meal, enjoying the cool evening breeze and the sounds of island music.

Looking back on our time in La Digue, I'm filled with a sense of gratitude. I was able to share a piece of my heritage with Hans and create memories that will last a lifetime. From exploring the secluded beaches of Anse Source d'Argent to savoring the local cuisine, every moment was a testament to the island's unique charm.

Tomorrow marks the end of our trip, but the memories we've made will stay with us forever. As we prepare to leave the Seychelles, I can't help but feel a sense of longing for this beautiful island nation. But I know that we'll be back, drawn by the warmth of its people, the beauty of its landscapes, and the magic of its Creole culture.

For now, it's time to rest and recharge for our journey back to Bonn. But before I drift off to sleep, I'll close my eyes and dream of the Seychelles, of the sound of the waves, the taste of fresh seafood, and the feeling of being home.

It's been an incredible journey, and I can't wait to share more stories and photos with you all soon. Until then, au revoir from the Seychelles!

P.S. I almost forgot to mention the little incident with Hans and the forgotten insect repellent! Let's just say that the mosquitoes of La Digue made sure he wouldn't forget it next time. And yes, I did remind him that I had packed some, but where's the fun in being prepared all the time?

And of course, I couldn't end this post without mentioning the overwhelming kindness of the Seychellois people. From the friendly faces at Spice & Bake Take Away to the helpful staff at our guesthouse, everyone we met made us feel welcome and at home. It's the people that truly make a place special, and the Seychelles is no exception.

The vibrant colors of the Seychelles have painted a beautiful canvas in my mind, one that I will cherish forever. The lush greenery, the turquoise waters, and the colorful Creole houses have created a visual symphony that I will never forget. And the scent of tropical flowers, the taste of exotic fruits, and the sound of island music will forever be etched in my senses.

As I reflect on this journey, I realize that it's not just about the places we've seen or the things we've done, but about the connections we've made and the memories we've created. And in that regard, our Seychellois adventure has been an overwhelming success. I feel closer to my roots, more connected to my heritage, and more grateful for the opportunity to share this experience with Hans. And that, my friends, is what travel is all about.

So, as we bid adieu to the Seychelles, I want to thank you all for joining us on this incredible journey. Your comments, messages, and support have meant the world to me. And I hope that our stories and photos have inspired you to explore the world and discover the beauty that lies within it.

Until next time, keep exploring, keep dreaming, and keep sharing your stories. The world is waiting to be discovered!

And now, with a heart full of memories and a suitcase full of souvenirs, it's time to say goodnight from Mahé. Bonsoir!

I'm already looking forward to planning our next adventure. Perhaps a trip to the Amazon rainforest, or a safari in Tanzania? The possibilities are endless! But for now, I'm content with reliving the memories of our Seychellois journey and sharing them with you all.

And who knows, maybe one day we'll return to La Digue and relive the magic all over again. Until then, I'll keep the island close to my heart and cherish the memories we've made. And I'll continue to share my stories and photos with you all, in the hopes of inspiring you to embark on your own adventures and discover the beauty that lies within our world.

So, as the sun sets on our Seychellois adventure, I want to leave you with a final thought: travel is not just about seeing new places, but about seeing the world with new eyes. And in that regard, our journey to the Seychelles has been a transformative experience, one that has enriched our lives and broadened our horizons. And for that, I am eternally grateful.

And now, with a smile on my face and a song in my heart, it's time to say farewell from the Seychelles. May your days be filled with sunshine, your nights be filled with stars, and your hearts be filled with love. Au revoir!
