Today, I ventured deeper into the heart of Slovenia, not just geographically, but also into the depths of its stunning subterranean world. It was a day of exploration, discovery, and a profound connection with nature’s artistry, a reminder of the hidden wonders that lie just beneath our feet.

My fifth day in the Škocjan Caves region began with a hearty breakfast at Magdalena Food & Fun. The reviews I'd read online mentioned their excellent service and a terrace with a view. While the terrace offered a glimpse of the surrounding area, it was the promise of a modern twist on Slovenian cuisine that truly drew me in. I opted for a traditional *gibanica*, a layered pastry with cheese, apples, and walnuts, paired with a strong coffee to kickstart my day. It was the perfect fuel for the day's adventures. I took a moment to journal, reflecting on the solitude of this solo journey, how it allows for these quiet moments of appreciation, something often lost in the hustle of family travel. I miss Ana and Luka, of course, but this time to myself is invaluable.

As evening approached, I found myself at Ošterija Na Planinci for dinner. This *Osterija* had been recommended by a local I met earlier in the day. The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere and was located in a tranquil location away from the hustle. I ordered *jota*, a traditional Slovenian stew made with beans, sauerkraut, and potatoes. It was hearty, flavorful, and the perfect way to end a day of exploration. The staff was friendly and the service was excellent, making me feel right at home.
