Diving into Dhigurah's Depths

Today was a day of underwater exploration and serene beachside relaxation in Dhigurah. It's always a joy to share the wonders of my homeland with Aishath and Ibrahim, and today was no exception. We immersed ourselves in the vibrant marine life and enjoyed the simple pleasures of island living. It's these moments that remind me why I wanted to bring my family back to experience the Maldives.

Our day began with a delightful breakfast at Veli. The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere, and the Maldivian breakfast was the perfect start to our adventurous day. Aishath particularly enjoyed the *mas huni*, a traditional Maldivian breakfast made with shredded tuna, coconut, and onions. Ibrahim, of course, loved the *roshi* (Maldivian flatbread) with jam. After breakfast, we prepared for our snorkeling adventure to the Coral Garden.

The Coral Garden was everything I had hoped for and more. The crystal-clear waters teemed with colorful fish and vibrant coral formations. Ibrahim was especially excited, pointing out every fish he recognized from his books. Aishath was mesmerized by the intricate patterns of the coral. I felt a sense of pride watching my family connect with the natural beauty of the Maldives, a stark contrast to our city life back in Toronto. Snorkeling here is a dream come true; the warm waters are brimming with life, and it’s an ideal playground for anyone keen to explore diverse underwater ecosystems. We spent hours gliding through the water, marveling at the underwater paradise.

The beauty of the Maldives lies not just in its pristine beaches, but in the vibrant life that thrives beneath its turquoise waters.

After our exhilarating snorkeling session, we headed to East Point.

This spot offered a tranquil escape with its soft sandy beaches and stunning tropical landscapes. We relaxed under the shade of the palm trees, enjoying the gentle sea breeze. Ibrahim built sandcastles while Aishath and I reminisced about our childhoods in the Maldives. It was a perfect moment of peace and connection, far removed from the hustle and bustle of city life.

For lunch, we chose Beach Fresh, a restaurant known for its fresh seafood and local cuisine.

The grilled fish was incredibly flavorful, and the traditional Maldivian curry was a hit with Aishath. Ibrahim, ever the adventurous eater, tried a bit of everything. The restaurant had a family-friendly atmosphere, and the staff were incredibly welcoming. It felt like dining at a friend's home, a testament to the warm hospitality of the Maldivian people.

As the day drew to a close, we decided to experience Dhigurah’s nightlife at The Beach Rouge.

This bar was the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the sunset. I opted for a traditional *mocktail*, while Aishath enjoyed a refreshing juice. Ibrahim, of course, had his favorite fruit punch. The atmosphere was lively, with music and laughter filling the air. It was a great way to end our day of exploration and relaxation.

Dinner was at Eats and Beats, a restaurant that promised a fusion of local and international flavors.

The restaurant lived up to its promise, with a menu that catered to every palate. Aishath chose a Maldivian seafood dish, while I opted for a spicy curry. Ibrahim, always a fan of pasta, enjoyed a simple but delicious spaghetti dish. The restaurant also offered live music, adding to the vibrant ambiance. It was a memorable dining experience, a perfect blend of culture and cuisine.

As we walked back to our guesthouse, under the starlit sky, I reflected on the day's adventures. It was more than just a day of sightseeing; it was a day of connection, of sharing the beauty of my homeland with my family. Seeing Ibrahim’s eyes light up as he discovered the wonders of the Coral Garden, and watching Aishath relax on the beach, filled me with a sense of contentment.

Tomorrow, we plan to visit the Tree of Wishes and North West Beach - Bikini Beach. Ibrahim is particularly excited about the Tree of Wishes, and Aishath is looking forward to spending more time on the beach. I am eager to explore more of Dhigurah and create more memories with my family.

Before drifting off to sleep, I couldn't help but feel grateful for this opportunity to reconnect with my roots and share them with my loved ones. It's a reminder that sometimes, the most meaningful journeys are those that bring us back home. I am also glad I remembered to pack the camera, I would have been devastated if I had forgotten that as well as the beach towels. I still regret forgetting the power adapter, but I will try and pick one up at NIRU DHIGURAH tomorrow while Aishath and Ibrahim are at the beach. Good thing tomorrow's breakfast is at Senses, so we can try somewhere new!

This trip is not just a vacation; it's a pilgrimage to the heart of what matters most: family, heritage, and the simple joys of life.

I am looking forward to sharing the adventures of tomorrow with you all. Until then, *dh বিদায়* (goodbye) from Dhigurah. It is really nice to just go outside to the balcony, the balcony is overlooking the pool. Outside you can see plenty of trees in the bathroom. Here we have a good space, it has a lot of counter space which I really love to spread out all my toiletries. The mirror is giant it's pretty much taking up the entire wall. Here we also have a head shower with a hand shower as well. I love this room, it feels so cozy.
