Today was nothing short of spectacular as we ventured deep into the heart of the Dades Valley. The dramatic landscapes, carved by centuries of natural forces, left us breathless. It was a day filled with exploration, delicious food, and unforgettable family moments amidst some of Morocco's most stunning scenery.

Our day began with a hearty breakfast at Café-restaurant Timzzillite Chez Mohamed. Perched perfectly to offer stunning views of the valley, it was the ideal spot to fuel up for the day’s adventures. The aroma of freshly brewed mint tea filled the air as we enjoyed traditional Moroccan pastries. I couldn't help but think how lucky I am to share these moments with Hans and Sophie, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Sophie, of course, was already snapping photos, eager to capture the beauty around us. I made sure to remind her not to forget to actually *experience* it, not just photograph it!

With our appetites sated and spirits high, we set off to explore the Gorges du Dadès. The drive itself was an adventure, with winding roads clinging to the sides of the cliffs. Every turn revealed a new, breathtaking vista, each more dramatic than the last. The towering rock formations, sculpted by the Dadès River over millennia, were truly awe-inspiring. The sunlight danced across the landscape, casting shadows that seemed to bring the ancient stone to life. I felt a profound connection to the earth, a sense of timelessness that only nature can inspire.

Sophie was particularly fascinated by the unique rock formations, especially the “Monkey Fingers”. We stopped frequently, allowing her to clamber over the rocks and explore every nook and cranny. Hans, ever the patient father, helped her navigate the steeper paths, while I trailed behind, capturing their adventures with my camera. I must admit, even I was impressed by Sophie's agility; all those hikes in the Swiss Alps have certainly paid off!

We savored traditional tagines, bursting with flavor and spice. Sophie, surprisingly, devoured a lamb tagine, declaring it the best meal she’d had so far. Hans and I shared a vegetarian tagine, filled with fresh vegetables and aromatic herbs. It was a delightful culinary experience, enhanced by the stunning views of the Dades Gorge.

After lunch, we continued our exploration of the Dadès Gorges. We drove deeper into the gorge, marveling at the sheer scale of the cliffs. In some places, the walls rose hundreds of meters above us, creating a sense of both awe and vulnerability. We stopped at several viewpoints, each offering a unique perspective on the landscape. The colors of the rocks shifted with the changing light, from deep reds and oranges to soft pinks and purples. It’s moments like these that make traveling so rewarding – the chance to connect with people from all walks of life, united by a shared sense of curiosity and wonder.

Later, as the sun began to set, we made our way to Soffi Cafe Restaurant for dinner. The restaurant was known for its stunning views and delicious Moroccan cuisine, and it did not disappoint. We enjoyed a leisurely meal, savoring the flavors of the region as the sky transformed into a canvas of vibrant colors. The air was cool and crisp, carrying the scent of distant woodfires. It was the perfect end to a perfect day.

Reflecting on our experiences today, I am struck by the sheer beauty and diversity of the Dades Valley. From the towering gorges to the lush oases, this region is a feast for the senses. But more than that, it is a place that touches the soul, a reminder of the power and majesty of nature. I feel incredibly grateful to have shared this experience with my family, creating memories that we will cherish for years to come. I am also grateful that we did not forget any of the essentials today, as I had forgotten the portable charger and travel journal earlier in the trip.

As we head back to our accommodation, I can't help but feel excited about what tomorrow holds. We plan to explore the Roses Valley and the Labyrinth kasbah Dades. I’ve heard that the Roses Valley is particularly beautiful this time of year, with the flowers in full bloom. And the Labyrinth kasbah Dades promises to be a fascinating glimpse into the region’s rich history and culture. I am eager to see what adventures await us.

Before drifting off to sleep, I spent some time jotting down my thoughts in my travel journal. It's a habit I've developed over the years, a way to preserve the memories and emotions of each day. As I wrote, I couldn't help but smile, thinking about the incredible experiences we've had so far on this trip. Morocco has truly captured my heart, and I know that this is just the beginning of our adventure.
