Dades Valley Delights
Today was nothing short of spectacular as we fully immersed ourselves in the dramatic landscapes and warm hospitality of the Dades Valley. The winding roads and towering cliffs made for an unforgettable journey, and I'm so excited to share every moment with you.
Our day began with a hearty breakfast at Cafe restaurant Oussikis. The inviting ambiance and the promise of authentic Moroccan flavors made it the perfect start. We indulged in a variety of traditional dishes, from savory tagines to aromatic couscous, all crafted with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Sipping on traditional mint tea while soaking in the views was the perfect way to prepare for the adventures ahead. Maximilian particularly enjoyed the tagine, declaring it the best he's had so far – quite the compliment coming from him!

Fueled and ready, we set off to explore Azrou n itbirn. While I had initially envisioned a serene, natural landscape, my research suggests that Azrou n'Thour in Algeria is a place of pilgrimage. It seems there might be a mix-up or perhaps another lesser-known site with a similar name here in Morocco. Regardless, we embraced the unexpected and found ourselves amidst a unique, rocky terrain that offered stunning panoramic views. The air was crisp, and the vistas stretched out before us, a tapestry of mountains and valleys. It was a moment to breathe deeply and appreciate the sheer beauty of Morocco.

The beauty of the Dades Valley lies not just in its landscapes, but in the warmth and resilience of its people.
Next on our itinerary was the magnificent Gorges Dadés. As we drove along the winding road, the views became increasingly dramatic. The towering cliffs, carved over millions of years by the Dades River, were a sight to behold. The unique rock formations, including the famous “Monkey Fingers,” added an element of whimsy to the landscape. We stopped frequently to take photos, each turn revealing a new and breathtaking vista. Amara was particularly fascinated by the “Monkey Fingers,” and we spent a good half-hour trying to spot different shapes and figures in the rocks.

Lunch was at Kasbah planète bleue dades, a charming restaurant known for its authentic Moroccan dining experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting, adorned with traditional decor that reflected the local heritage. We savored signature tagines, slow-cooked to perfection, and fluffy couscous bursting with flavor. The restaurant also offered breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, making it an ideal spot for relaxation. Maximilian and I enjoyed a leisurely conversation about the architecture and design of the kasbahs, while Amara was captivated by the intricate patterns on the carpets and cushions.

As evening approached, we made our way to Isabel - Chez Moha for dinner. Located in the heart of the Dades Gorges, this guesthouse offered a beautiful setting with views of the Monkey Finger rocks. The cuisine was a delightful mix of traditional Berber and modern dishes. We enjoyed a delicious meal on the terrace, accompanied by the soothing sounds of the Dades River. The hospitality was exceptional, and we felt like part of the family. Amara, who can be a picky eater, surprised us all by devouring a hearty portion of the Berber tagine.

As I sit here now, reflecting on the day, I am filled with gratitude for the experiences we shared. The Dades Valley has a way of captivating your senses and leaving you with a profound appreciation for the beauty of nature and the warmth of human connection. The food was incredible, the landscapes were breathtaking, and the company was even better.
Tomorrow, we plan to explore Sidi daoud AIT SEDRAT JEBEL SOUFLA and the Cascade [Sidi daoud AIT SEDRAT JEBEL SOUFLA, Cascade]. I’ve heard whispers of hidden waterfalls and panoramic vistas, and I can't wait to uncover the secrets of this region. We'll start with breakfast at Café Restaurant AIT SEDRAT, followed by lunch at auberge restaurant oued dades. In the late afternoon, we might indulge in some local shopping at accessoires dades abd elhamid before enjoying dinner at Chez Pierre. It sounds like another day filled with adventure and discovery, and I'm eager to see what tomorrow brings!

Even though I forgot my sunglasses, the beauty of Dades Valley made up for it. I'm also glad I packed my hiking boots because they were essential for exploring the rocky terrains. The power adapter would have been useful, but thankfully Maximilian had one with him. Overall, today was a reminder of why I love to travel, and I can't wait to share more of our Moroccan adventure with you.
