Solitary Exploration of Kaziranga's Wonders
Day 7: Trekking Through Kaziranga's Verdant Expanse
Embark on a thrilling trek through Kaziranga, witnessing breathtaking views and vibrant wildlife, creating unforgettable memories.
A Day of Discovery on Kaziranga's Trails
Today was all about immersing myself in the natural beauty of Kaziranga National Park, trading the jeep for my own two feet. I was eager to experience the park from a different perspective, hoping to find a deeper connection with the landscape and its inhabitants. Little did I know, the day would unfold into a series of breathtaking vistas and serene encounters that would leave me in awe.
My day began with a hearty breakfast at Grab N Go Kaziranga. I opted for a quick but satisfying meal, a sandwich and a strong cup of masala chai, fueling up for the adventures that lay ahead. Despite a slightly dishonest representation of the French toast, the food tasted good, and the prices were reasonable. With my backpack prepped and my spirit high, I set off towards the Geleki Trek.
The Second Exit Kaziranga Geleki Trek was my first destination. The trek was a moderate challenge, winding through lush greenery and offering stunning views of the Karbi Anglong Hills. It was invigorating to be surrounded by such natural beauty, the air filled with the sounds of birds and rustling leaves. The trail was well-maintained, making it accessible for hikers of all skill levels. As I ascended, I was rewarded with panoramic vistas that stretched as far as the eye could see. The Geleki Trek is known for its breathtaking views and vibrant ecosystem. The rolling hills and verdant landscape provided a soothing backdrop to my hike.

The best view comes after the hardest climb.
At the Kaziranga Geleki Trek Viewpoint 1, I paused to take in the scenery. The viewpoint offered an unparalleled perspective of the park's vast expanse. I could see the grasslands stretching out before me, interspersed with pockets of dense forest and shimmering water bodies. In the distance, the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas provided a majestic backdrop. It was a truly awe-inspiring sight, one that reminded me of the sheer scale and beauty of nature. I took the opportunity to capture some photos, wanting to preserve the memory of this incredible view.

After the trek, I decided to visit the Kaziranga National Park View Point Watch Tower. The watchtower offered a different vantage point, allowing me to observe the park from above. As I climbed the tower, I was greeted by panoramic views of the park's diverse landscapes. From this height, I could appreciate the intricate network of rivers and wetlands that crisscrossed the park. I spotted a herd of elephants grazing in the distance, their massive forms dwarfed by the vastness of the landscape. The watchtower provided an ideal setting for wildlife spotting, and I felt grateful for the opportunity to witness these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat.

For lunch, I stopped at Lahéke Chai Café, a charming retreat known for its serene ambiance and warm hospitality. I savored a cup of authentic Indian chai, brewed to perfection with local spices. The café's menu featured a selection of light snacks, and I opted for a plate of momos, delicious dumplings that were the perfect complement to my chai. The café was popular among locals and travelers alike, and I enjoyed chatting with fellow visitors, sharing stories and travel tips.

In the late afternoon, I decided to indulge in some shopping at Kaziranga National Park. I visited a few local shops, browsing through traditional Assamese handicrafts and souvenirs. I was particularly drawn to the handwoven silk sarees, their vibrant colors and intricate designs reflecting the region's rich cultural heritage. I also found some beautiful bamboo and cane products, crafted by local artisans. I purchased a few small items as gifts for my family back in Germany, wanting to share a piece of Kaziranga with them.
As the day drew to a close, I made my way to Kholong Restaurant for dinner. The restaurant was known for its blend of traditional Assamese cuisine and fast food options, catering to a diverse range of palates. I decided to try the local Assamese curry, a flavorful dish that was both spicy and satisfying. The restaurant's jungle-themed decor created an inviting atmosphere, and I enjoyed the warm and welcoming ambiance. The Kholong Multicuisine Restaurant has been rated highly by users. The Kholong Restaurant is known for its commitment to quality ingredients, delightful flavors, and exceptional service.

Reflecting on the day, I realized how much I had experienced in such a short time. From the breathtaking views of the Geleki Trek to the serene ambiance of the Lahéke Chai Café, every moment had been filled with wonder and discovery. I felt a deep sense of gratitude for the opportunity to explore Kaziranga's natural beauty and immerse myself in its vibrant culture. As I prepared for tomorrow's adventures, I couldn't help but feel excited about what lay ahead. Tomorrow, I plan to visit the Selfie Point, Kaziranga Tourism, and the Kakochang Waterfall. I am particularly looking forward to seeing the Kakochang Waterfall. I will also have meals at Bamboo Shoot, Baankahi, and Pelican Dhaba Cum Restaurant. To cap off the day, I'll visit the Foxtail Orchid bar.
Back in my guesthouse, I journaled about my day. I realized that I still needed to buy a power adapter. I also realized that I had not been homesick at all. Perhaps it was because I had been so busy taking in the sights and sounds of Kaziranga. Or maybe it was because I was starting to feel like I belonged here. Whatever the reason, I was grateful for the experience.
As I drifted off to sleep, I dreamt of rhinos and elephants, of lush green forests and snow-capped mountains. I knew that Kaziranga would forever hold a special place in my heart, a reminder of the beauty and wonder that exists in our world. I am so glad that I came here on this solo trip. It has been an experience that I will never forget.
