Oases of Calm and Culinary Delights
Today was a symphony of sights, smells, and tastes, a day dedicated to immersing ourselves in the tranquil beauty and exquisite flavors that Marrakech has to offer. It’s amazing how a city so vibrant and bustling can also hold such serene and peaceful spaces.
Our day began, as most days here have, with a delightful breakfast at the TUI BLUE Medina Gardens – Adults Only – All Inclusive. The spread was as fresh and inviting as ever, setting a perfect tone for the adventures ahead. It’s these small comforts that make traveling with friends so enjoyable; sharing stories over a delicious meal before venturing out into the unknown.

Experience a luxurious adults-only retreat in Marrakesh with all-inclusive amenities, stunning gardens, and proximity to iconic attractions.
Our first stop was the Menara Gardens. The air was crisp and clean, a welcome change from the city's lively streets. The gardens, with their large reflecting pool and the Atlas Mountains in the distance, offered a stunning panoramic view. While the gardens themselves are quite simple, the setting is incredibly peaceful. We strolled around the perimeter, enjoying the quiet and taking in the sights. It was a perfect spot for a moment of reflection, a chance to appreciate the natural beauty amidst the urban landscape.

Next on our list was Anima (André Heller Garden), a place that truly sparked my imagination. This garden is a vibrant, almost surreal landscape where art and nature blend seamlessly. As someone who appreciates sustainable living, I was fascinated by how Heller incorporated eco-conscious practices into this artistic space. Lena would have loved this place. Everywhere I looked, there was something new to discover – sculptures nestled among exotic plants, winding paths leading to hidden corners, and breathtaking views of the Atlas Mountains. It was like stepping into a living painting, a testament to the power of creativity and the beauty of nature. I even spotted a few pieces reminiscent of Picasso and Haring [though I wasn’t sure if they were originals]. I spent hours wandering through Anima, completely lost in its enchanting atmosphere. I even enjoyed a refreshing smoothie at the garden's cafe, made with ingredients sourced directly from the grounds. It was the perfect way to recharge before our next culinary adventure.

For lunch, we had reservations at La Mamounia, a legendary hotel known for its opulent setting and exquisite cuisine. Walking through the hotel's grand entrance felt like stepping back in time, surrounded by intricate mosaics, lush gardens, and a sense of timeless elegance. The restaurant itself was a feast for the senses, with impeccable service and a menu that showcased the best of Moroccan gastronomy. I opted for a vegetarian tagine, a fragrant and flavorful dish that perfectly captured the essence of Moroccan cuisine. The ambiance was sophisticated yet relaxed, making it a memorable dining experience. As a software engineer, I often find myself drawn to precision and detail, and La Mamounia certainly delivered on both fronts.

After such a luxurious lunch, a bit of shopping was in order. We headed to Boutique Majorelle, a treasure trove of unique finds located near the Majorelle Garden. The boutique was filled with vibrant textiles, handcrafted jewelry, and stylish clothing, each piece reflecting the artistic spirit of Marrakech. I picked up a few souvenirs for Lena and Sofia, hoping to bring a piece of Marrakech back home to Heidelberg. The shop itself was beautifully curated, a testament to the city's rich artistic heritage. I found a beautiful scarf with intricate patterns that I know Lena will adore, and a small, colorful toy for Sofia, something to remind her of our adventures.

As the afternoon waned, we sought out a place to unwind and reflect on our day. We found ourselves at the Chesterfield Pub, a cozy spot with a relaxed atmosphere. It was a welcome change of pace, a place where we could kick back, enjoy a drink, and share stories. The pub had a unique charm, a blend of Moroccan and British influences that made it feel both familiar and exotic. I opted for a local beer, savoring the taste as we recounted our favorite moments from the day. It was a perfect way to wind down, a moment of camaraderie before our final culinary experience.

For dinner, we ventured to Stah Marrakech, a rooftop restaurant offering panoramic views of the city. As the sun began to set, the sky transformed into a canvas of vibrant colors, casting a magical glow over Marrakech. The restaurant itself was chic and modern, with a menu that blended traditional Moroccan flavors with contemporary culinary techniques. I tried a delicious lamb tagine, cooked to perfection and infused with aromatic spices. The view, the food, and the company made for an unforgettable evening. It was a perfect culmination of our day, a celebration of the beauty and flavors of Marrakech.

And to cap it all off, after dinner at Stah Marrakech, we decided to take a leisurely stroll through the Medina. The atmosphere was electric, with the sounds of music, the smells of street food, and the energy of the crowds creating a vibrant tapestry of Moroccan life. We stopped at a few stalls, haggling for souvenirs and soaking in the sights. It was a sensory overload, a reminder of the city's rich cultural heritage. I even managed to find a small, intricately carved wooden box, perfect for storing my travel mementos. It was a fitting end to a day filled with exploration, relaxation, and culinary delights.
As I sit here now, writing this entry, I can't help but feel grateful for the experiences of the day. Marrakech has a way of captivating the senses, of drawing you in with its beauty and energy. Tomorrow is our last day, and we're planning a hot air balloon ride over the city. I can’t imagine a better way to say goodbye to this enchanting place. We plan on having breakfast at our hotel, TUI BLUE Medina Gardens, then lunch at Le Douar, and finally, a farewell dinner at Henna Café. Also, we’ll try to grab a last drink at Theatro Marrakech. Until then, goodnight from Marrakech!
For those interested in art, there's an exhibition of Mahi Binebine's sculptures and paintings until today, March 28, and Nicola Baratto's 'Tears of Fog' exhibition until April 30.
It’s been a day of gardens and gastronomy, a true taste of what Marrakech has to offer. I am looking forward to tomorrow, and the hot air balloon ride, but tonight I will sleep well with fond memories of today's adventures.
