Today was a blend of high fashion and culinary exploration, a sensory journey that captured the essence of Marrakech. It’s amazing how a city can offer such diverse experiences in just one day, from the hushed reverence of a fashion museum to the lively chatter of a cocktail bar. Today was a day of discovery, shared with great company, and I’m excited to share it with you.

Our day began with a delightful breakfast at the TUI BLUE Medina Gardens – Adults Only – All Inclusive. The hotel's breakfast spread never disappoints, offering a variety of options to fuel our adventures. After a leisurely start, we set off to immerse ourselves in the world of haute couture at the Yves Saint Laurent Museum. I’ve always admired YSL's work, so seeing his creations up close was a real treat. Lena, ever the architect, was particularly taken with the building's design, noting how the exterior evoked the weave of fabric. I was fascinated by the way Saint Laurent integrated Moroccan influences into his designs. The museum itself is a beautiful space, and it’s clear that a lot of thought went into the presentation of his work. The exhibition was a wonderful tribute to his genius, and I left feeling inspired by his creativity and vision. It was interesting to see the parallel between his work and Lena's passion for sustainable architecture; both strive to create something beautiful and lasting.

After the museum, we decided to experience Marrakech through a guided tour. The 'Marrakech Guided Tours' was a fantastic way to delve deeper into the city's history and culture. Our guide, whose name I unfortunately can’t recall, was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about Marrakech. He led us through the winding streets of the Medina, sharing stories and insights that brought the city to life. We learned about the city's architecture, its vibrant markets, and its rich cultural heritage. It was fascinating to see the blend of old and new, traditional and modern, that defines Marrakech. We even stumbled upon the Zahria of Marrakech – Orange Blossom Moussem, a local event celebrating the orange blossom, which added a delightful sensory experience to our tour. The air was filled with the sweet scent of orange blossoms, a truly intoxicating aroma.

For lunch, we ventured into L'Mdina Marrakech, a restaurant recommended by several locals. The restaurant's location, right in the heart of the Medina, made it a perfect spot to take a break from our explorations. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the decor was a beautiful blend of traditional and contemporary styles. We started with a selection of Moroccan salads, followed by a tagine that was bursting with flavor. The spices were perfectly balanced, and the lamb was incredibly tender. It was a truly authentic Moroccan culinary experience, and one that I would highly recommend. Lena was impressed by the restaurant's design, noting how it seamlessly blended traditional Moroccan elements with modern aesthetics. As someone passionate about sustainability, I appreciated the restaurant's commitment to using fresh, local ingredients.

As evening approached, we made our way to Narwama for dinner. This restaurant was a completely different experience from L'Mdina, offering a fusion of Moroccan and international cuisine. The ambiance was elegant and sophisticated, with a touch of exotic charm. We decided to try a few of their signature dishes, including the Moroccan lamb and the Thai green curry. The combination of flavors was unexpected but surprisingly delicious. The restaurant also featured live music, which added to the overall atmosphere. It was a perfect way to end a day of cultural and culinary exploration.

After dinner, we decided to check out BAROMETRE COCKTAILS in Marrakech. This bar was a hidden gem, tucked away in a discreet location. The atmosphere was intimate and sophisticated, with a speakeasy vibe. The cocktail menu was extensive and creative, featuring a range of classic and innovative drinks. I opted for a Negroni, while Lena tried one of their signature cocktails. Both were expertly crafted and delicious. The bar also offered a selection of tapas, which we enjoyed while sipping our drinks. It was a perfect way to unwind and reflect on the day's adventures.

“Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.” This quote resonates deeply with me after today's experiences. Exploring the world of Yves Saint Laurent and immersing ourselves in the local culture made me realize the vastness of human creativity and the richness of different traditions.

As I sit here writing this, I'm already looking forward to tomorrow. We're planning a camel ride in Marrakech and a visit to the Agafay Desert. I can't wait to experience the beauty of the desert landscape and to learn more about the Berber culture. Sofia would have loved the camel ride. Maybe next time we will come here together as a family. And maybe Lena will get some inspiration for her sustainable housing projects.
