A Day of Discovery in Nakhon Ratchasima
Today was a beautiful blend of modern sights and natural tranquility in Nakhon Ratchasima. From panoramic city views to serene park moments and delightful culinary experiences, it was a day that truly captured the essence of this vibrant city. Join me as I recount the day's adventures, filled with family, food, and fascinating sights.
Our day began with a hearty breakfast at Tapestry Chinese Restaurant, located conveniently within our hotel, Leosor Hotel. The aroma of roasted duck and the promise of delicate dim sum filled the air as we settled in. It reminded me of the Cantonese restaurants back in Montreal, but with a unique Thai twist.

We savored the flavors of perfectly cooked dim sum and fragrant rice noodles, setting the stage for the day's explorations. My wife, Nang [Spouse.Name], particularly enjoyed the roasted duck, noting its crispy skin and succulent meat. Ananda [Children.0.Name], ever the adventurous one, tried several new dishes and gave them his enthusiastic thumbs up. It’s always a pleasure to start the day with a satisfied family.
With our appetites sated, we headed out to our first destination: the Skydeck Tower. Located atop Terminal 21 Korat, this 110-meter tower promised a 360-degree view of the city. As we ascended, the anticipation grew. Stepping out onto the observation deck, we were greeted by a breathtaking panorama of Nakhon Ratchasima.

The sprawling cityscape stretched out before us, with its mix of modern buildings and traditional Thai architecture. The vibrant colors of the city popped against the clear blue sky. Ananda [Children.0.Name] was particularly fascinated, pointing out landmarks and taking photos to share with his friends back home. Nang [Spouse.Name] and I marveled at how much the city had grown since we were children. It was a reminder of the progress and development that Thailand has embraced over the years.
After soaking in the views from Skydeck Tower, we decided to immerse ourselves in nature at Suan Rak Park. This park, located in the heart of the city, is a creation of the municipal government to make Nakhon Ratchasima more attractive. As we strolled through the park, we were immediately struck by its serene beauty. Lush greenery, tranquil lakes, and playful statues dotted the landscape.

We paused by the statue of Thao Suranari (Ya Mo), a legendary Thai figure who led an uprising against the occupying Cambodian army. It was a moment of reflection, honoring the courage and resilience of the Thai people. The park was alive with activity, with locals and tourists alike enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. Children played by the lake, families picnicked under the trees, and couples strolled hand in hand. It was a vibrant scene, a testament to the park's role as a cultural hub for the community.
Sometimes, the most profound experiences are found in the simplest of moments, like a quiet walk in a park or a shared meal with loved ones.
Next on our itinerary was a visit to Central Korat, a premier shopping and entertainment hub. While Nang [Spouse.Name] was keen on exploring the fashion boutiques, Ananda [Children.0.Name] was drawn to the electronics stores. I was simply eager to experience the modern retail scene in my hometown. Central Korat is truly a shopper's paradise, blending international brands with beloved Thai brands. We spent a couple of hours exploring the mall, indulging in a bit of retail therapy. Nang [Spouse.Name] found a beautiful silk scarf, while Ananda [Children.0.Name] snagged the latest smartphone. I picked up a few souvenirs for my friends back in Montreal.

For lunch, we decided to try Daya's Eatery, a restaurant known for its fusion cuisine and cozy atmosphere. The restaurant was bustling with activity, a testament to its popularity among locals and tourists alike. We ordered a variety of dishes, from burgers to salads, each bursting with flavor. I opted for a classic Thai dish, Pad See Ew, while Nang [Spouse.Name] chose a Western-style steak. Ananda [Children.0.Name], as always, went for the burger. The food was delicious, and the service was impeccable. It was a delightful culinary experience, a perfect blend of Thai and international flavors.
