Road Travel/Taxi
The final approach to Koh-e Aw Posh is challenging due to the rugged terrain. Starting from Pul-e Khumri, the capital of Baghlan Province, the most practical option is hiring a local 4x4 taxi or arranging transport with a local guide familiar with the area. The journey involves navigating unpaved roads and potentially crossing riverbeds, so a reliable vehicle and experienced driver are essential. The route heads generally south towards Khost wa Firing. There are no established parking facilities at the mountain's base, so the driver will likely drop you off at the closest accessible point, from where the ascent begins. Due to the remoteness and lack of established infrastructure, costs are variable and should be negotiated in advance. Expect to pay between $50-$80 USD for a round trip from Pul-e Khumri, depending on the vehicle, driver's experience, and your bargaining skills. Ensure the driver is aware of the planned duration of your climb and arrange a specific pick-up time and location. There are no tolls or mandatory passages.
