Getting There

• Car

  Start your journey by getting onto US-431 S from wherever you are in the Appalachian Mountains. Follow US-431 S for approximately 35 miles until you reach the junction with AL-49 S in the city of Lineville. Take the exit for AL-49 S and continue for about 7 miles. Look for signs for Cheaha State Park, and turn onto Cheaha Road. Follow the signs for the Cheaha Falls trailhead, which is located within the park. There is an entrance fee of $5 per vehicle to access the state park.

• Public Transportation

  Public transportation options are limited in this area. You can take a Greyhound bus to the closest major city, Anniston, AL. From Anniston, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to get to Cheaha Falls, which is approximately 30 miles away. Ensure to book your taxi in advance, as availability may vary. Be prepared for taxi fares that may range from $50 to $75 depending on the time of day.

• Hiking

  If you are already in the vicinity of Cheaha Falls and are looking for a hiking experience, follow the Cheaha Falls Trail. The trailhead is located within Cheaha State Park. The hike is about 1 mile long and is considered moderate in difficulty. Be sure to wear appropriate hiking gear and bring plenty of water. The trail may be rocky, so tread carefully. There is no additional cost for hiking, but access to the state park requires the standard vehicle entrance fee.
