Discover more about Gulf State Park Pier

The Gulf State Park Pier, located on Alabama's Gulf Coast, is more than just a pier; it's a testament to the community's resilience and a prime spot for recreation and relaxation. Stretching 1,540 feet into the Gulf, it's the second-longest pier on the Gulf of Mexico and Alabama's only public pier on the Gulf. Originally built in 1968, the pier has been rebuilt several times due to hurricane damage. The current structure, completed after a $13.6 million renovation, includes amenities such as covered seating, an indoor retail shop for tackle and souvenirs, and comfort stations. The pier also has wheelchair-accessible fishing rails. While the elevated observation deck is currently closed for elevator installation, the rest of the pier is open for fishing and sightseeing. Fishing is a popular activity, with anglers catching various species, including sheepshead, red drum, Spanish mackerel, and flounder. For those without gear, rod and reel rentals are available. Sightseers can enjoy panoramic views of the Gulf Coast, and concessions are available. The pier is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with staff on-site during the day. An honor box system is in place for fee payments when staff are not present.
