Discover more about Bamahenge

Bamahenge, a quirky roadside attraction in Elberta, Alabama, is a full-scale fiberglass replica of the famous Stonehenge monument in England. Created by Virginia artist Mark Cline for Alabama businessman George Barber, Bamahenge offers visitors a chance to experience the mystique of Stonehenge without leaving the United States. Inspired by Cline's Foamhenge in Virginia, Barber commissioned the replica, initially planning to install it at his Vintage Motorsports Museum. However, the location was later changed to Barber Marina in Elberta. Completed in 2012, Bamahenge stands 21 feet tall and 104 feet across, mirroring the dimensions of the original Stonehenge. The replica is even oriented to align with the summer solstice. While not an exact replica, Bamahenge captures the essence of Stonehenge with its arrangement of large, stone-like pillars. Visitors can freely explore the site, offering a fun and accessible experience for families, art enthusiasts, and those curious about ancient monuments. In addition to Bamahenge, the surrounding area features other unusual sculptures by Mark Cline, including the Dinosaurs in the Woods and The Lady in the Lake, making Barber Marina a unique destination for art and history lovers.
