If driving from the Gulf Shores Public Beach area, head north on Gulf Shores Parkway (Highway 59). Souvenir City will be on your right, approximately 1.5 miles from the main beach area. Look for the large shark mouth entrance. Parking is available in the front and rear of the store. Parking is free, but can be limited during peak season.

If you are staying along Gulf Shores Parkway, walking to Souvenir City is a viable option. From the Gulf Shores Public Beach, head north on the Parkway; it's approximately a 1.5-mile walk. Be mindful of traffic and use sidewalks where available. There are crosswalks at major intersections. The walk should take approximately 30 minutes. There are no costs associated with walking.

Founded in 1956 by Josie Weaver Weir as a small gift shop called The Anchor, it has evolved into the sprawling emporium it is today. In 1959, her son Clyde Weir took over and renamed it Souvenir City, inspired by a shop he saw during his honeymoon in Miami. Over the years, Souvenir City has become synonymous with Gulf Shores vacations. Its most recognizable feature is undoubtedly the massive shark mouth entrance, a later addition designed to draw attention when a competitor, Alvin's Island, opened nearby. The original shark, built in 1984, was a 50-foot-long creation that quickly became a beloved photo spot. After a devastating fire in 1996, the store was rebuilt with an even larger, 70-foot shark, solidifying its place as a Gulf Shores icon. Inside, Souvenir City is a treasure trove of coastal delights.
