A. A. Miller Dam: A Historic Landmark

The A. A. Miller Dam, located in northeastern Alabama near Mentone, is a significant landmark showcasing early 20th-century innovation and natural beauty. The dam, initially 10 feet high, was later raised with local contributions to increase reservoir size and power generation. The DeSoto Falls Picnic Area adjacent to the dam offers picnic tables, grills, and restrooms. Visitors can enjoy boating, swimming, and fishing in the West Fork of Little River. Hiking trails near the dam provide stunning views of DeSoto Falls, Little River Canyon, and surrounding forests. The Overlook Trail offers panoramic views, while the River Trail descends to the base of the falls.
