    From Cleveland, Alabama, head west on AL-79. Turn onto Swann Bridge Road. Continue for approximately one mile to reach the Swann Covered Bridge. Parking is available near the bridge. Note that speed bumps are present on the approaches to improve safety.

The Swann Covered Bridge, also known as the Joy Covered Bridge or Swann-Joy Covered Bridge, gracefully spans the Locust Fork of the Black Warrior River in Blount County, Alabama. Constructed in 1933 under the guidance of Zelma C. Tidwell, it connected Cleveland with the community of Joy, initially earning it the moniker 'Joy Covered Bridge'. This historic bridge, a testament to a bygone era, stretches an impressive 324 feet, making it the longest covered bridge still standing in Alabama. Its Town lattice truss design and wood-and-metal combination evoke a sense of nostalgia, transporting visitors to a simpler time. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 20, 1981.Following a period of closure due to safety concerns, the Swann Covered Bridge underwent restoration in 2012, ensuring its preservation for future generations. Today, visitors can experience the charm of this historic landmark, appreciating its architectural details and scenic surroundings. While it was once open to motor vehicle traffic, it is currently closed to it.
