Discover more about Art Haus

The Opelika Art Haus, completed in 2019, stands as a vibrant hub in Opelika's historic downtown, fostering creativity and community through the arts. Founded by siblings Jay and Ginger Stern, the Art Haus is dedicated to the memory of their parents, Henry and Roslyn Stern, honoring their commitment to the community and the arts. Henry, known as "Mr. Opelika," had a deep love for the city's history, while Roslyn was a passionate art teacher in Lee County. The Art Haus provides working studio spaces, gallery exhibits, and educational opportunities for artists of all levels. The beautifully repurposed architecture features unique design elements, including a staircase/fountain. The main gallery, once a church, and the studio spaces, located in a renovated garage and separate building, retain original features like repurposed floors and exposed trellises. Each studio is named after a school where Roslyn Stern taught, including Brown Elementary Studio, Carver Primary Studio, and more. The Art Haus hosts a variety of events, including art shows, workshops, and community gatherings. It serves as a space for artists to showcase their work, teach classes, and nurture their creative spirits. The Art Haus also offers opportunities for the community to engage with art through classes, exhibitions, and volunteer opportunities.
