Originally a health retreat in the 19th century, the park now features over 20 miles of hiking and biking trails, rustic cabins built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), campgrounds, and stunning overlooks of the surrounding valley.

Driving
From downtown Huntsville, take Governors Drive (Highway 431) southeast towards Monte Sano Mountain. Follow Governors Drive to the top of the mountain and turn left onto Monte Sano Boulevard. Continue for approximately 2.5 miles and turn right onto Nolen Avenue. Follow Nolen Avenue for 1 mile until you reach the park entrance. Parking is available near the park's main attractions, including the lodge, picnic area, and trailheads. Expect to pay a daily entrance fee of $5 per adult, $2 per child (ages 4-11) and seniors (62+)..
Biking
From downtown Huntsville, several routes lead to Monte Sano State Park for a challenging bike ride. A popular option is to take Governors Drive (Highway 431) to the top of the mountain. Be prepared for a steep ascent. Once on Monte Sano Boulevard, follow the road for approximately 2.5 miles and turn right onto Nolen Avenue. Continue for 1 mile to reach the park entrance. Cyclists must pay the daily entrance fee of $5 per adult, $2 per child (ages 4-11) and seniors (62+). Parking is available at the hiker's trailhead and biker's trailhead.
