    Discover more about Deibert Park

Deibert Park, located in Florence, Alabama, is a 70-acre passive park donated to the city by Dr. Kirk R. and Lillian Cook-Deibert and dedicated on May 25, 2000. The land has a rich history, dating back to the antebellum era when it was part of a large plantation owned by Judge Sidney Cherry Posey. In 1875, Charles Posey, a former slave who worked the fields, purchased the farm from Judge Posey's heirs. Charles and his wife, Amcy, divided the land among their heirs, establishing a settlement known as Posey. Today, Deibert Park serves as a green oasis for the community. Visitors can enjoy interpretive walking trails, explore ponds, and utilize the restrooms. A Wisconsin-style barn is present, with plans for it to become an educational facility. The Children's Museum of the Shoals is located at the entrance of the park, offering educational experiences for families. The park is a popular spot for walkers, joggers, and bikers. Fishing days are also held at the park. Deibert Park is a testament to the generosity of the Deiberts, who wanted to share their love of the land with the city of Florence. The park provides a space for people of all ages to connect with nature, learn about local history, and enjoy recreational activities.
