Deibert Park, located in Florence, Alabama, is a 70-acre passive park donated to the city by Dr. Kirk R. and Lillian Cook-Deibert and dedicated on May 25, 2000. The land has a rich history, dating back to the antebellum era when it was part of a large plantation owned by Judge Sidney Cherry Posey. In 1875, Charles Posey, a former slave who worked the fields, purchased the farm from Judge Posey's heirs. Charles and his wife, Amcy, divided the land among their heirs, establishing a settlement known as Posey.
Today, Deibert Park serves as a green oasis for the community. Visitors can enjoy interpretive walking trails, explore ponds, and utilize the restrooms. A Wisconsin-style barn is present, with plans for it to become an educational facility. The Children's Museum of the Shoals is located at the entrance of the park, offering educational experiences for families. The park is a popular spot for walkers, joggers, and bikers.
