Getting There

  • Public Transport

    From Tirana, take a bus to Shkoder (approx. €3.50). Then, a minibus from Shkoder to Koman Lake (part of a combined ticket) departs around 6:30 AM. A ferry across Koman Lake (€7 per person, €30-40 per car) takes about 3 hours. Finally, a minibus from Fierza to Valbona costs around €7 per person. Check schedules in advance as they can be inconsistent.

    From Tirana, drive to Koman (approx. 4 hours), then take the car ferry to Fierza. From Fierza, follow SH24 for about 30 km to Valbona Valley National Park entrance. Parking is available near Hotel Fusha e Gjesë. Parking was free as of Fall 2022, but it's always good to confirm locally. Be prepared for a bumpy ride on the final leg.

    From the center of Valbona village, the Valbona-Theth trail begins near Hotel Fusha e Gjesë Rragam. Follow the path to the right, marked with red and white trail markers. The hike to the pass takes about 3-4 hours. Ensure you have appropriate hiking gear and check weather conditions.
