Getting there

Walking

From the center of Tirana, the Illyrian Castle is best accessed by combining walking with other transport. Start by walking towards the Lana River and then towards the Grand Park of Tirana. From the park, head towards the Dajti Express cable car station. The cable car will take you up Dajti Mountain, after which you should follow the signs to the castle.

Public Transport

To reach the Illyrian Castle via public transport, begin at Skanderbeg Square and board bus line 1 towards Dajti Mountain. Alight at the final stop and proceed towards the Dajti Express cable car station. Ascend Dajti Mountain via the cable car, and upon reaching the summit, adhere to the signposts directing you to Illyrian Castle. A non-transfer bus ticket costs 40 Lek. A taxi from the bus station to the castle should cost approximately 1000-1500 ALL.

Taxi

Taxis are readily available in Tirana. A taxi ride to the Dajti Express cable car station, followed by a cable car ride to Dajti Mountain, is the most convenient way to get close to the castle. From the cable car station, follow the signs to the Illyrian Castle. Taxi fares in Tirana start at 300 lek for the first 1.5 km, with a per-kilometer charge thereafter. A taxi from the city center to the Dajti Express Cable Car typically costs between 500 and 1000 Lek. A ride on the Dajti Express Cable Car costs 1200 Lek for a round trip.
