The cornerstone was placed in November 1994, and five years later, the Orthodox Christians of Durrës welcomed Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I during his visit to Albania. The church was built across from where the St. Spiridon Church and the Metropolitan See had been. The basilica features a cupola surrounded by columned vestibules. Covered in white stone with Byzantine-style red tiles on the roof, the church's exterior is a sight to behold. Inside, visitors can admire the hand-carved iconostasis crafted by masters from Pogradec, as well as the Episcopal throne and psalter's stand. The basement includes a hall for gatherings, complete with a kitchen, stage, offices, classrooms, and a library. The church is not only a place of worship but also a cultural and spiritual center that fosters love and community.
